Using an offshore bank account for criminally derived funds can always result in the account being frozen as in the above case no matter what the jurisdiction is including North Cyprus.

Use an offshore bank account legally and there is a 99.999% chance you'll never have a problem with it. I am of course not referring to tax mitigation or minimization stratgies but fraud and other criminal maters.

Declaring the account does not make it useless. You can still avoid law suits and the like this way.

I know of people that opened and account with them. They were "First Oceanic Bank", you know them? I think Renfrew closed their account, because later they had one with RAHIM Bank (of N. Cyprus).

The biggest problem I can see with Renfrew (aside from their outrageous fees) is that they require $100,000+ deposit to open an account for you.
