This came up in another thread, so I'm curious how the warnings count script works.

Is the warnings count shown supposed to be for active (non-expired) warnings only? Or warnings for a particular time period?

For example, according to my calcucations, I have 3 active warnings, but the count I see is 5.

The 5 refers to how many warnings you have ever had. Due to script problems at one time it meant that after you were unbanned if any mod had then warned you it would have automatically resulted in another ban, which was obviously not right.

Brian manually removed a bunch of old warnings which were no longer `current` at the time anyway, so that it would rectify the totting up issues.

As for your current `warning level` that stands at just one. In other words you only have one unexpired warning, which will go down to zero pretty soon, assuming of course no further warnings are issued during that time.

Thanks, it's good to know how the script works. Other members might be curious as well what the numbers they see mean.

Another question about the same script is when exactly are the warnings count/level shown for other members?

Is it supposed to be shown only on the same pages where my posts appear? Or supposed to be shown on all pages?
