My e-gold account was hacked!

My e-gold account was hacked and $444.44 was gone, the ****ing hacker's e-gold account number is 3022418, and his user name is RYTIS, it happened on Apr. 20, I just transfered that amount of money from Uniclear, and it was gone. First I found I couldn't log in my account, it asked to put in a PIN, which it never happened before, that's because I leave the IP security check as default, suddenly I reallized my account was hacked. After I regain my account the money had already gone to the hacker's account.

I still can't figured out how the hacker got access to my account, I've been very cautious about the security, I never download suspicious software, never click suspicious links to some fake websites, I use 22 characters of password for the account, including letters and numbers, never type the password when logging in the account, always use Roboform, I always scan my hard drive with antivirus software, I have strong firewall software too, I constantly check loading drivers and software just to make sure there's no spyware or backdoor hackware or something, and I always clear the cookies and temporary files. I don't know what else I can do to prevent such things from happening on me. I think these security messures are enough to let this tragedy happen, but unfortunetely it really happened. The only mistake I made was to set the IP check as default, which is now changed to the highest level after this big lesson.I don't know if e-gold company can help me retrieve my loss, I doubt they can since they have their no charge back policy.

I don't know if my account is still safe, even after I reinstalled the Windows, please give me some other advice on how to prevent this from happening again.

F**k those son of ***** hackers and scammers, they just want to steal other people's hard earned money, hope they will die ugly for what they've done.

If you used the same password for egold that you may have used in other places, that might be part of the problem.

With the e-gold 'syphoners' doing the rounds now, virtual keybaords, the accsent security and Roboform are useless. They work when you logon to egold. Running autosurfs with internet explorer is a big no-no , thats likely where you picked the thing up.

Like DV says, use something other than Windows for best security, if you can't live without keeping Bill G in the lifestyle to which he's become acustomed, at least don't use Internet Explorer which is its biggest hole.

Some low life decided to try his luck with an MSN hijacker this morning. Obviously hadn't done his homework.........

hacked on Apr 19. I reported it to e-gold and received the reply see lower.

I feel a hacker deserves some punishment thus I would appreciate any kind of
legal advice connected with the matter as myself have no experience.
- who can issue subpoena or court order?
- what are estimated expenses to do it?
I presume to get it back if I win a lawsuit
- am i to raise accusation against e-gold or a hacker?
I would like to find somebody who has successfully undertaken this process.

The person who compromised your account used the automated interface to
spend the funds. There is no pin required for automated spends which is why
you did not receive a pin e-mail for that ip address. You may want to
adjust your automation attributes to restrict automated spends to a specific
ip block or disable this option entirely.

Your security is also disabled you will need to update your security level
to prevent future problems.

Please check your computer for the following Trojans Win32/Goldun.ia;
GDIWXP.DLL and pwsteal.trojan. We have had a couple of customers who
reported being infected with these viruses. One customer said he did not
find anything when he ran Norton and McAfee anti-virus software, but he
found the Win32/Goldun.ia Trojan when he used a software called 'Kaspersky'.

We investigated and placed a value limit on account # 2995543 to prevent it
from receiving additional funds. However, regrettably we are unable to
refund your money because e-gold Ltd. (e-gold) is contractually prohibited
from freezing e-gold accounts or releasing e-gold account records in the
absence of a court order or subpoena nor the e-gold system does not allow
for the reversal of payments.

You might want to consider obtaining some combination of help from a legal
professional or law enforcement to obtain a court order, if the size of your
loss warrants expenditure of your resources (time and money) to resolve.

If you are able to receive the records electronically please specify the

order or subpoena to e-gold Ltd please:

- Ask for e-gold account profile information for account number #2995543
- Ask for transaction history information for account number #2995543
- Ask for information on any other accounts owned or controlled by the
individual
- Ask for counteraccount_id profile information. This is the account
profile information for any accounts that made payments into or received
payments from the subpoenaed account
- If applicable, ask for stabilization of the funds in question "freezing of
the account if the funds are still under the control of the perpetrator"

isnt egold ok if you have all the security settings at their highest, and copy and paste your details in so keyloggers dont work?

im just starting in all this and hope my egold is safe.
