Don't worry, there are easy ways around.

Clever people will set up service centers in free countries. You government controlled US people will transfer your money by bank wire to those service centers, and they in turn will pay it into you betting account.

Those service centers will make loads of money. It will work like in the old days with the alcohol prohibition. People who offer solutions will make a fortune.

For the betting you will use services like logmein.com so no one can tell you are working from the US.

I do not see any problems.

It is absolutely essential that you guys over there in the US do not give up. People from the free world will support you, and one day you will be free again.

I'm wondering if this will effectively bar any U.S. citizen from using e-gold at all.

if so, time to possibly switch all e-gold deposits to paypal or something.

This law in no way outlawed online betting for US residents. It outlawed the money transfers that are currently present. Once the Attorney General finds out how difficult this will be to enact it will be sent back to Congress to tweak and make more bank friendly. How is it that every bank in the US could possibly track 200 million transactions to sportsbooks? It can't and just like when Paypal left the gambling industry another processor will appear. The Neteller of today will be transferring money to a third party and then finally to a book. The cost of gambling will go up by about 4 dollars every 100 transferred. Another thing is that it has 270 days before any of it can be enacted, by US law.

I think that Congress and Senate should have important reasons for this decision.

Because you can't bet online??? That is not "trapped". Why not move to a country where they tell you what to wear, eat, and speak? That is trapped.

is this true? the papers was presented to the President today - http://www.congress.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:H.R.4954:

I'm hoping you are correct IWIN but day 1 starts tomorrow (9/4) for this to become a 'law'..where do i read the 270 US law? :help1:

The law is unenforceable and will be sent back to Congress once the Banking and Finace committee,Attorney General and Department of Justice get this. They have 270 days to decide how to enact this law. Then they'll have to tell the President and Congress that it will cost 100 BILLION(very conservative) to track all money transactions of the American people. EVERY TRANSACTION. We don't have a budget of 100 BILLION for Wars,Aids,Medical Care and Social Security, so I find it hard to believe that the Democrats(THAT WE WILL ELECT COME NOVEMBER) would ok this budget.
This law prohibits US banks from transferring money to gambling entities. That is it. This will be signed soon by the president but won't be enforceable until the Attorney General and The Department of Justice decide on HOW TO enforce it.

From another sites poster:

DOJ - Hey Bank of America, did you block your gambling transactions this year?

BOA - Sir we tried hard.

DOJ - What can we do to make it work better?

BOA - Not pass stupid laws that are unenforceable. Budget $100 billion to start a coding system for echecks and wires and to pay us to monitor a million transaction each day. Pray Europe and the rest of the world is willing to bend over and take it in the ass.

DOJ - Oh.

That is exactly how I see it. Can't enforce something that can't be funded.

what is the purpose banning it?

The "publicly stated" purpose of banning it, is because online gambling is morally wrong; it makes gambling addiction that much easier for the general public.

The REAL reason is, backers of Frist (and some other Republicans) are closely tied to (and funded by) the Vegas gambling industry. If online gambling is completely outlawed, the Vegas industry players will enjoy the full monopoly of the market. Protectionism and cronyism at their best.
