New Orleans +7.5 over Carolina

Probably setting myself up for a loss here as the Saints are one of the most baffling teams in the NFL. Just when you think they're playing well, they'll get blown out to a team like Arizona and go on a losing streak. And just when you think they've given up on the season, they win three in a row and are now playing for a playoff spot. Expect a hot Panthers team to win today, but feel the trend of the Saints playing at least competitively continues and keeping this one close.

Philadelphia -8 over Minnesota

Missing Terrell Owens has certainly hurt the Eagles' offensive production, but the only way they don't score a decent amount of points in this game is if the Vikings duplicate last week's performance defensively in which they intercepted Favre four times and held the Packers to 17 points. Not typical, however, of the Vikings 'D' this season. They had a total of only 11 interceptions and gave up an average of 25 points per game. The Eagles' defense, by contrast, has been solid. Don't expect Culpepper to have as much time to throw as he did against the Pack as Eagles' DC Jimmy Johnson will blitz and blitz often. And a strong pass defense should keep Mossy and any other receiver from fake mooning or shaking certain body parts too often. The long layoff didn't bother the Falcons, and neither should it bother the Eagles as they win by double digits.

I'll also add that Kearse was a real pest against the Vikings last time they met. The Vikings couldn't cover him then and it isn't expected they can now.

I agree. The "freak" should have a good game.

Manning 0-6 at Foxboro....with an axe to grind. New England with a banged up secondary and no Ty Law who had been the anti-christ for Manning in previous games. Today I take the Colts straight up.

I took the Falcons yesterday in a real laugher.

EDIT
Boy, good thing my wager was only $20.

The Heat's home ATS record is only 7-11-2 this season, and the Rockets have been playing well of late. BOL.

Hi Darklol:

I do look at what other handicappers have to say but ultimately it comes down to what I think about a given game. I look at all kinds of stats before I come to a conclusion, and there have been many times where I have gone against the consensus. With the Heat/Rockets game, I saw how poorly the Heat have been at home covering the spread. The Rockets, by contrast, have played well on the road recently, covering 5 of their last 7 road games. And at least for three quarters today, the Rockets hung tough and even had a chance to cover late in the game. You win some close ones, you lose some close ones, it's what makes handicapping tough.

BTW, I'm glad you took Miami. :)

NY Knicks +9 (-102) over Denver

Knicks haven't played well at all this season, but Denver isn't much better. Line seems too high here.

NY Knicks/Sacramento under 194.5 (-110)

I apologize for the last pick and the lateness of this pick. George Carl has pumped some new life into Denver.

With key injuries to some of the Kings players and the Knicks not scoring much on the road of late (averaging 80 pts. in their last 7), the under looks like a good play here. GL.

2005 record: (4-2)

Unbelievable, the Knicks score 61 in the first half, almost as much as they've scored in total for some of their recent road games.

The NBA has proven to be too difficult for me to forecast successfully, and that includes a bunch of games which I lost and didn't post here in the forum.

Good luck darklol, gold-dott if you continue to post your picks, and others deciding to do the same.

Take care,
Paul
