Colts / Bengals OVER 54
You guys probably remember one of the more entertaining games of 2005, The Colts beat these Bengals 45-37. We will see more of the same offense on both sides tonite.
Forget about the high powered Indy offense, let's concentrate on the defense. The Colts are a "read and react" UNDERSIZED defense and they are neither reading NOR reacting lately. Last Sunday, the Jaguars had 248 rushing yards at the half, en route to 375 total for the day. The Jag's first two plays from scrimmage were a 76-yard run by Fred Taylor and that was followed by an 18-yarder by Maurice Jones-Drew for a touchdown. It never got any better than that all day long for the Colts.
You could make a case that the Bengals defense has improved over the last three games but on the other hand, DON'T -- those games were against Cleveland, Oakland and the Ravens. THis is how we win games, the public rarely evaluates the talent and the linesman follows suit to pick a number that will get the books 50/50. This is the key. Go back one game before those three dreadful teams and you can see what an solid offensive group did against them. Drew Brees threw for over 500 yards, but three interceptions and a lost fumble did the Saints in.
Let's look at the Indy offense,in last year's meeting, Peyton Manning and the Colts scored 35 points on their first five possessions in Cincinnati with Manning throwing for 365 yards and three TD's. They currently have the #3 ranked offense (facing the Bengals #31 ranked defense).
Now the Bengals offense is in rhythm and never punted once on the road against the Raiders, (who suck but have a Top ten defense). With their set of wide outs (and Rudy Johnson), the Bengals will once again to be able to put points on the board.
The OVER is the play..
