Can anyone recommend any good books for beginners in sport betting or any links on some good sites. Also, can anyone give me any advice they can offer about sports betting. I am looking into betting using tipster services but I can't seem to even understand thier picks yet( the odds are what comfuse me) I have been looking at a tipster and he picks a team with the point spread odds but also puts another number I don't understand.
ex Team A -6 -246
the -6 is the point spread odd but I don't know what the other number represents. If anyone can sort out my mess and explain to me that would be great. Does the bigger number have to do with moneyline betting?

-246 means that you would be risking $246 to win $100.
If it were +246 you would be risking $100 to win $246

pinnaclesports.com
if u are interested in my picks just drop me a mail, I even offer managed betting account solutions!
yep the first number (-6) is the spread, and the second means the line
if no first numberr than it is a moneyline bet

Thanks for the clarification guys. But I am still a little confused. Here is an example of one of the picks on the site.
02:45 - VILLANOVA -6.0 -102 over New Mexico (2nd choice: VILLANOVA -247)
What does the second choice represent. Is it a different kind of bet altogether?

2nd choice is the money line
spread -6 -102 spread menas that u should lay 102$ to win 100$ but in that case villanova should win with more than 6 points the match
the 2nd choice is the moneyline bet which means that u should lay 247$ to win 100$ and u win the bet if Villanova wins the match , nevermind with how many points

Interesting,
Sports betting is not for the faint of heart. Reading a book will give you the basics, but it will not eliminate the risk. Take a look at Arbitrage-Sports.com to learn how to eliminate all the risk with arbtirage betting. This is where you never lose as you are betting on both sides to win or lose, playing the spread bwtween different bookmakers odds. With this new software, it makes it easy as well as risk free to bet on sports.
Good luck,
