hi guys have you heard. Reciently i have found that Paypal is refusing to except payments for gambling sites betfair applications and information services.
Yet when questioned paypal reply was that although they except / allow betfair to process payments / transactions smaller business with a small turnover are not excepted.
so far this has effected many business's such as xpublisher but to name one who has had to move their payment process form one account to another.
surely this is discrimination on behalf of the small business man. it is ok for ebay to advertise horse racing and gambling related products as we now they are a sister company of paypal and the fact they allow betfair the largest betting exchange to process payments, why hit the smaller business man who has reciently started up.
If anyone has an alternative to paypal that they can recommend that excepts this sort of business please let me now as all the ecommerce sites i have looked at use paypal as an option.

Continuing -: surely this will effect affiliate programs in the end. Ask youself just how many site use paypal as an option to pay ifs affiliates. IF paypal closes gambling related sites as a payment option then it must follow that payments/ commissions will follow:helpsmili

No offence and im not saying your wrong but where did you get this info from and how reliable is it? Do you have a source you could point us to?
I could completely understand paypal stopping gambling transactions but i very much doubt they will stop people accepting payments fro information products, or do you just mean gambling information products?
I reckon most of paypals money comes from webmasters selling nothing more than ebooks so they would be shooting themselves in the foot to stop that.

I have a Paypal account which I use for depositing and withdrawing money from Betfair, and I've never been contacted by Paypal concerning this.

I think the option for us to subscribe to other information services will soon disappear unless they have a huge turnover and are approved by paypal.

5. involve gambling, gaming and/or any other activity with an entry fee and a prize, including, but not limited to casino games, sports betting, horse or greyhound racing, lottery tickets, other ventures that facilitate gambling, games of skill (whether or not it is legally defined as a lottery) and sweepstakes unless the operator has obtained prior approval from PayPal and the operator and customers are located exclusively in jurisdictions where such activities are permitted by law.
Activities Requiring Approval
PayPal requires pre-approval to accept payments for certain services as set out in 5 above and detailed in the chart below.

Paypal not liking betting websites is nothing new im afraid. They will happily jump into bed with Betfair but not with the small betting companies.
Sadly this is probably down to the amount of trouble they get from bogus tipster services and the like.

Looking at betfair and paypals actions my guess is that they are consolidating.
Betfair is no longer an single horse racing facility with timeform as part of its portfolio and with the racingpost about to start charging it will be interesting to see if they have a paypal option in the future. If so then watch out mass pay of affiliate site may become something of the past if it relates to gambling under their terms and conditions.
My advice would be to contact the FSA watchdog or OFT and bring this monolopy to thier attention.
