Tonight's Pick Thurs 2/2
Note : due to the new forums rules about applying picks reasons/explination
on why this pick/selection was chosen and so on , I have applyed all my picks analysis
Enjoy
Pick : Old Dominion vs. Hofstra
Selection : Hofstra
Odds : -2.0 / -102.0
Reason :
It happpens every year. There's always one sleeper team on everyone's preseason hit list, set to make some noise. This year's "cool" team was Old Dominion. Tha Monarchs are having a nice year at 15-6 but as we'll see, there are several red flags that clearly point ODU out as a fraud. Firstly, Old Dom is just 7-12 against the number but more importantly is just 2-10 against teams with winning records indicating these guys are bullies. They're also just 3-8 ATS against their own kind (in conference) and 0-2 as a dog, losing by 19 at UAB, and losing by 19 in their last game at George Mason. Hofstra on current 7-3 SU and 8-2 ATS run is by contrast 9-5 ATS overall, 5-1 favored, 5-1 at home with avg margin of 10.5, and a perfect 3-0 ATS against denfensive teams similar to Old Dom (avgg less than 64, giving up less than 64). Hofstra won first meeting at Norfolk, 76-68, as an 8 point dog - battering the Monarchs 17-5 on the offensive glass. The Dutchmen have taken care of business here and are 4-1 SU & ATS in conf with DD margin and look to avenge 67-66 loss to Monarchs here last year. A bucket gets the job done here, Hofstra wins this by DDs as the Colonial Conference Game of the Year
Pick : Denver vs. New Orleans
Selection : Under
Odds : 125.5 / -105.0
Reason :
Don't see a whole lot of points being scored here. Denver on a run of five straight UNDERS while Monte Towe's Privateers are 8-2 UNDER L10. Both teams shoot 42% or less from the field and each shoots just 72% or less from the charity stripe. Both teams 6-2 UNDER in Sunbelt play. NO avgg just 56 ppg during current 5 game skid and has no choice but to tak air out of the ball to be competetive since losing top player/scorer Bo NcCaleb back in early December. This wasn't doesn't get near 125, plat the UNDER
Pick : California vs. Oregon State
Selection : California
Odds : -2.5 / -107.0
Reason:
The Bears are much the best here and this number is very suprising since Cal will be looking to avenge earlier home loss to Beavers and are 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their L8 visite to this site. Cal gets the money in this under the radar Pac-10 tilt.
Pick : Wisconsin - Milwaukee vs. Wright State
Selection : Wisconsin - Milwaukee
Odds : -4.5 / -110.0
Reason:
Wisc-Milw is 9-1 in conference, 3-1 SU & ATS on thr raod where their wins with suitcase are by 23, 8 and 11. The Panthers beat the Raiders on their home floor 61-54 just two weeks ago and didn't play very well at that. Right back!
Pick : Nevada - Reno vs. Louisiana Tech
Selection : Nevada - Reno
Odds : 1.0 / -101.0
Reason :
Benchmark game for Nevada which finds itself struggling after very fast start. The Bulldogs are rock solid at 7-1 in con and have covered five of six but are just 3-6 SU & ATS in this series, 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS on home floor. Pack won both matchups last year by 18 and 8. Nevada has La Tech's number and prevails tonight
Total of 5 Picks tonight
Best of luck :)

?
ToPHitter
02-03-2006, 02:50 PM
Yeah .. I heared about this bookie .. if i were you i would have droped it a long time ago .. it doesn't have phone support ( which is the most important thing when betting with bookies )
and it looks like a man made site .. not a well istablished/certified company of some sort
and plus they are accepting Egold .. which facing some major problems/issue's now...
and if your bookie ripped you off you will just sit and watch
and they dont offer higher max wager over 300$ i think ..
thats my personal openion about megasb
Arkham
02-03-2006, 03:04 PM
besides e-gold it also accepts Neteller, Moneybookers, Western Union, etc
and the odds are quite low to be a scan ;)
a couple of friends bet on that bookie, and so far no problems recorded ;)
the max wager is $500 I think..
As soon as you post your picks for today I'll tell you about the odds on megasb to compare them =)

Hi !
Just tryin to follow this....but..autsch...my head explodes !!
I´m from Europe and used t the decimal system.....
I tryid to understand these american odds here, looked at pinnacle an bet365 but no chance for me to get a clear view ....
Can someone here please give me a short explanation how to compare decimal odds (i.e. spread -6 1.86 to american -6 -116
OR -5.5 -126 to deci 1.794 ?? taken from pinnacle..).
How can i convert these odd systems ?? is there a formula or table,
or just give me the priciple behind that, must be enough to get..
Just don´t want to bother anybody, but until i get this i thin i´m going mad shortly....
THANKS a LOT everybody in here !!

POP2000:
If I'm not mistaken the decimal sistem works as follow:
If you win your bet.. multiply your stake for the "decimal number" and you get your total, i.e. if you bet $100 on something like 1.67 and you win, then you receive 167

To convert American odds to European, simply divide an underdog's price (positive odds) by 100 and add 1, or divide the favorite's price (negative odds) into 100 (after dropping the minus-sign) and add 1. To convert decimal odds of less than 2.0 to American, subtract 1 and divide into -100. For odds greater than 2.0, subtract 1 and multiply by 100.
If we use odds from our general example above, American odds offered for a Brazil win (a favorite so American odds are negative)are -250. We lose the minus sign and it's (100 / 250) + 1 equals 1.40. And for positive odds we take England to win, an underdog, odds are +400, it's (400/100) + 1 equals 5.00.
To convert European odds to American we take odds for a Brazil win which is offered at 1.40, so under 2.00. It's 100/ (1.40 - 1) equals 250. Now for odds over 2.00 we take England to win at odds 5.00, so it's (5.00 - 1) x 100 equals 400.

Despite Las Vegas "adjusting" pretty regularly to both the Knicks and the Raptors, both teams have been OVER machines.
The Knicks are 26-9 to the OVER in L35, the Raptors are 16-5 OVER in last 21. As a result virtually every situational subset pertaining to this matchup firmly indicates the OVER. The Knicks are 16-4 OVER vs. losing records, 10-3 OVER vs. teams allowing 99+ points. The Bockers are also 18-9 OVER as a dog and 14-7 OVER on the road (66-39 OVER traveling L3 yrs). The Raptors have several more moderate indicators, 7-3 OVER L10 at home, 5-1 OVER in division but more importantly Raptor games averaging 214.2 ppg with the Dinos shooting 49%, their opponents 51.6%. Add to the mix that four of last six Knick opponents have scored 109+ including 120 and 130 in last two.
I think that you'd probably agree that tear gas couldn't keep these guys from scoring :D

Way to go Top...
You have been officialy promoted to the $10 wager limit ^^

?
Just my advice, arkham, as an experienced sports bettor....
Keep your wagers at the same amount, throughout your wagering experience. Don't keep increasing your wagers like that because your confidence grows. If you maintain a disciplined wagering approach, you will succeed.
What's to say, that the very day, that tophitter has a loosing day (which happens in sports betting and would not make him a bad tipster, just look at the wins he's had so far, he's doing pretty well), you decide to "promote him to the $40" wager limit.
What if he goes 1-4 that day? (Which can easily happen...2-3 days in a row eve) You'd be out of most of the profit in a snap, that you've spent time building up while he was winning.
But, if you stayed at the same wager limit, say, $5, or around 5-10% of your bank, you can be right back up and in profit in the blink of an eye, once tophitter has another winning run again. Maintaining a set wagering limit, will let you be able to survive a few losses. Without loosing much. And definately not all, ....which would REALLY hurt. lol
Just trying to give you some advice....as, winning runs, are ALWAYS followed by a few losses here or there (that can wipe you out, or hurt you badly if you don't know how to handle them), .....it's how nature works,...and definately how the personality of sports betting is. I'd hate to see a first time sports bettor/newbie loose interest in sports betting, or become traumatized by it, because of simple inexperience.
And I'm sure if tophitter hit a few days of losses, or very small profit, he'll start making a killing again afterwards.
:)

I know a lot about streaks, good and ones; I also play poker, and I have won $500 in three hours, but also lost $400 in three hands (no joke here :( )
And yes, I know it's not good to keep raising the stakes, because maths says that eventually you'll lose... something like "compound all your profits with 1% of losing everything", you'll do fine until that 1% shows up and you're dead =(
But consider this... would you keep the whole year betting $3? I think not, I've raised the stakes because I'm more confident on tophitter's pick and becuase I have the resources to keep playing at that stakes if something goes wrong.
My plan is to go all the way up... really don't know how much but... a lot =)

I'd keep the whole year betting the same percentages of my bankroll. Not flat betting ofcourse, but a percentage. If that percentage of your bankroll increases as your bankroll increases, then fine. :) (Example, you start with $500, betting 5%, and then your bank raises to $1k from wins,...obviously, 5% of $1k is more than 5% of $500) But, if you just increase your wager amount manually, then, you will have trouble maintaining inevidable loosing streaks.
:)

Actually I bet the same within what I call a session =)
usually a session is a time frame of about 24-48 hours...
If my bankroll bet-percentage is, say $5.. I bet the whole session that amount, and only then I recalculate. Otherwise I could loss the final pick with a biger amount and end with red numbers =(
So far so good, I started with $25 and I'm already over $75 in about 3-4 days O.o
I wish somebody would exchange me some Neteller in order to bet on sites like pinnacle or betfair where there are really good odds; right now megasb's odds are not that good, and sometimes I' ve lost bets due difference in the spreads of winnnings
So you know... if somebody can exchange some NT for EG I would greatly apreciate it ;)
Thanks to all (speacially our lovely tipster)

Well, do remember, I warned you.
:)
Gambling is an unpredictable environment, and sports betting just happens to be one of the areas of gambling where an individual can have an "edge", to win more than he looses. But, if he doesn't know how to handle the losses right, he will fail.

Thanks for the warning...
But just a few months ago I started with $50 on a poker site...
Now thanks to poker, HYIPS and just now sports betting, I have something like $1.500 with and estimated return of $500 per month... and steady growing ;)
So I could say I've doing allright =)
Yes, gambling is risky, but if you trust in maths and long term results (and a bankroll to support it) you can benefit from it.

it seems that always when there are free tips, people are very attracted, only to realise that you always get what you pay for: if you pay nothing, you will get losses for free.
more interesting is the fact that you guys forget how valuable your time is... and all this time you spend by trying free tips that in the end lead you only to losses, means lost time and lost money for you :(

Well I have been following his picks and went from $50 to $100 in about 3 days. So I guess maybe he knows what he is talking about.

All of todays picks are the winners I assume? The American odds are really confusing... that -2/-150 stuff is weird.
Arkham
02-06-2006, 06:25 PM
I agree, but with time you get used to it.. and all the other formtas O.o
The bets displayed here are on "Spread Win" not just straight win; wich means that the team must win (or lose) for a difference bigger that the amount displayed at the left ---> -2/ -150
In you own example the team must win for a difference over 2 points
The right number are the odds (in american format =/ ), if the number is negative, it stands for "how much do you have to bet in order to get $100", and if it's positive it means "how much do you profit for betting $100" (no comments)
so -2 /-150 <---- means that if you bet $150 you'll get your $150 + $100
if it is -2 / 150 <---- means: bet $100 and you get your $100 + $150
So, in conclusion, we can ask tophitter to show it in the decimal format :lolol:

Yes definitely, Decimal pricing is the easiest!
when i see -112 or -200 my first thought is that you lost all your money already...
switch to decimal pricing so we can follow you
Definetly. Even though here in England we use the fractions method, I find decimels are the best. They are the easiest to figure out how much you stand to win. The American system makes no sense, even after you explained it... it just sounds so absurd and pointless.

Ok GS is starting to pull ahead, up by 8 in the 3rd.
However, even if they pull off the win, we all lose because of the 1.9 odds (at least the ones that I got). So we will all be down no matter what.
Hehe I wasn't. I accidently bet to win,all all the picks :D up £1.93 on £1 each :D

well top u cant post ur paid pick as a reference as we can't confirm them. so just going by ur picks in this thread. haven't had a look at them so far but since u say ur up for the week nothin to complain.it is unrealistic to think betting just one day will make u profit. think long term ppl. u have to come out on top over the year. last year I had a very very good first half year with a bunch of profit thenI become greedy a little bit and kind of stupid on some picks well and there goes much of the profit ...
so long term profit is what counts.
