how effecient is submitting articles to article directories?

Just curious, I've heard alot of people say they would rank that over getting on search engines.

What are your experiences?

a single article that i only submitted to article city, still sends me continous streams of traffic, if just a single one of them converts into a sale, its a profitable preposition

It depends a lot on the article. If the article is bad it may only help you getting indexed by the search engines. But what you really want is people to get the article and republish in their ezines and sites. So, it should be a good one to make some success

I haven't really gotten into writing articles, but my friends that have done it have had some success with it. I'm thinking about doing it, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
