Hello,

Can anybody tell me is there a way to open a UK bank account without visiting UK? Something like ETRADE. Actually, I need to verify my UK bank account with my Google Checkout account and receive payments. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks alot.

Use the above if you are serious about banking offshore.

If you want an account to withdraw $10 you got through Paypal then don't bother.

All of the banks above excluding Smile and Egg expect residents to live outside of the United Kingdom. Smile and Egg will probably reject applications made outside of the EU, but it's worth a try.

I recommend Nationwide, if you have enough money you can open a USD account. The instant access ones only require about $2 to open.

ATM cards are available with most of these banks. Banks in the UK normally give out Visa and Mastercards to customers depositing >£500 per month, otherwise you get a Maestro/Visa Electron which can still be used in most places.
