Money Exchange folder to shut down

As a team we are sick and tired of the scammers who prey on newbies in this folder. Most of the moderator resources are devoted to this folder alone when only about 2% of the traffic is here. Every time we ban someone for scamming we have to deal with sometimes hours of work investigating each transaction.

There is no reason why people can't just use exchange services. It seems as though 90% of the people who use this folder abuse it as well as commit fraud.

Not to mention this folder leads to stolen accounts, post count building, password theft and more. Eliminating this folder will reduce all sorts of issues!

Enough is enough. Starting in approximately 2-3 weeks the money exchange folder will be gone!!

This is seriously bad... Brian, can you not do that? Perhaps you could raise the standards on the exchange folder or something instead of just killing it all together?

Can we talk about this? Is this up for discussion? It would be a sad sad day if the folder goes away. No joke.

I'll start a poll and if the answer is to delete it, then so be it. If not, perhaps we could thinking of something else to get done?

What kind of standards can we raise? Either way there will always be people posting nonsense to get their post count up, or trying to hack into other peoples accounts. We have had enough. We have a lot of plans for talkgold in the coming months and removing this folder will ease our burden a bit. Just because someone makes 50, 100, 500 posts does not mean they wont scam.

They have tried about everything. Nothing really works and people are putting the blame on this forum or coming to this forum making accusations for something that happened away from this forum.

It just gets to us all as a mod team, gives Talkgold a horrible reputation, and causing 20 times as much aggravation as there should be.

People calling me a scammer, posting lies about mods, etc because they were banned from talkgold for scamming. The facts are we can never be 100% sure of who is telling the truth during a dispute, and its not fair to the mods, the members or the admins. Find somewhere else that will allow you to exchange, or you could always just do it the practical way of using a registered exchanger.

I don't understand. I deal with thousands of dollars in egold, ebullion, paypal, and money bookers every week, yet I never have a reason to ask someone for an exchange. I use the exchange services.

I don`t think there`s a mod here who would vote for keeping this folder open. I know that from my point of view I spend around 80%-90% of my time dealing with claims that someone has been scammed in here, or that someone has been banned when they say they shouldn`t have been.

Our mods have to take all sorts of garbage thrown at them, and in the end it`s a lose-lose situation, time consuming and basically non-productive.

Yes, Everybody who scam here see TalkGold as a scammer. It's not good. I think if these scams continue more and more then TalkGold will lose his position in people minds. So it's better to limit everything for scammers. It's good opinion Brian.

that's a bad, bad, very bad news.
however, it is perfectly understandable since there are so many scammers among us.
if that's the decision we should respect it, and move on.

I am not happy with the news, but I must say I perfectly well understand the reasons behind such a decision.
Just think that there were people planning and preparing scam for months, building up post number and trader ratings... just waiting for a kill. And this can neither be cured, nor prevented.
So, sad as I may be, I nevertheless respect the administration's desicion in this regard...

Hi Brian,

Why don't you make the "Exchange" folder as a "paid" folder. It's like that in MMG forum. For example, we need to subscribe (for say $10/month or more) to access the folder & post in it. That way it will keep the cheap scammers out & it will also become a revenue source for TG.

Also, make it a STRICT rule so that ALL exchanges are done at member's OWN risk...and NOBODY should contact TG admin if they ever get scammed.

Hoping that Exchange folder will prevail.
