Tell me what are my chances to charge back PayPal, please.

I had negative balance in my account and PayPal managed to intercept an automatic transaction from my credit card. PayPal charged my credit card more than was due in order and this way they covered the negative balance.

I would like to recover the money PayPal took from me.

Tell me please, what are my chances to charge back PayPal successfully.

Go to your bank or whoever issued you the CC and fill inn a chargeback form explaining the situation as well as you can. If they accept your reason for the chargeback, you will get your money back in 2-4 weeks.

I am concerned about my chances of success since the dispute filed was for a digital product.

Could you tell me more about how I should proceed in this case.

You need to follow the directions at the PayPal site, if you are not satisfied and wish to dispute the charge.
They will investigate it and do what they think is right.

How did you get a negative balance? Someone else charge back on you?

What do you mean "PayPal managed to intercept an automatic transaction from my credit card". I can't make sense of that statement.

If you are trying to charge back against Paypal, I expect your chances are about a small as is possible - approaching zero.

Please explain better, we can probably offer more help when we know.

I got the negative balance when a buyer charged back for a software product I sold him.

I have a billing agreement with a hosting company and when the time for payment came PayPal charged my card for more than the amount specified in the agreement in order to cover the negative balance.

Provide me with advice on how I should proceed when I file a charge back with my bank, please.

OK, I get it now.

You want to charge back your credit card.

I don't know how your card issuer will deal with it. You can try it. Get your CC issuer to send you the chargeback forms and give it a try.

I expect Paypal will freeze you out.

Let us know what happens please.

The chargeback process works pretty much the same as with CC chargeback. The difference is that you submit the "proof" to paypal, which then forwards it to the CC company. If the CC company doesn't accept your proof, that's it, no second chance.

Oh, and paypal holds the disputed amount in reserve until the chargeback is resolved.

My guess is that in your case, your odds of winning chargebacks would be pretty low. What is your success ration in disputing normal CC chargebacks?
