I'm in the US With an Amazon.co.uk account - help?
First, I apologize if this is the wrong section, there's so many sections I didn't know where to put it.
Alright, basically I need help deciding what to with this...I have just received an Amazon.co.uk giftcard, because the person did not have an american credit card to send the funds through the .com system, so the currency was in GBP and I could only accept the giftcard on the Amazon.co.uk account, not the Amazon.com account.
I live in the USA, and I now have this money on the .co.uk account. So, I thought ok, I will just order from the UK and pay the extra for shipping...WRONG. They will only ship books, cd's, and movies, and it's expensive.
So, what do I do with this? It's a little more than 200 GBP. I called amazon to see if they could credit my .com account with it, they said no, so they put it on the .co.uk account. I have no clue what to do.
I was thinking like, buy a college level book or something, and re-sell it, but that's too much of a hassle really, and I don't know where I'd sell it at.

200 GBP? That`s a lot for a gift card. It`s a pity he didn`t send you the money by PayPal then let you decide what to spend it on.
As you say, Amazon will only allow a very limited number of products to go International. Are you sure it`s £200? If you meant £20 then it might be worth just buying a book and paying to have it sent over to you.

unfortunately, it was in fact 216 pounds, it was supposed to be the equivilent of 400usd.
That's why I thought maybe buy school books that cost alot and resell them but I don't know which book to buy or which one has the best resell value and where to sell it at.

Can you (either formally or informally) do an exchange with an amazon.co.uk customer who also has an account with Amazon in the US so that you effectively order on each others' accounts until the amount's effectively been exchanged? You could offer such a person £200 for £175 or something like that, to give them an incentive to do it, perhaps?
You wouldn't need access to each others' account to do that, and you'd only really be trusting each other for something like one book or CD at a time. I think it might work.
It would only be helpful to you if you were able to (willing to) spend the money at Amazon US yourself, though.

First, very few products can be sent internationally as you have said, Books, Cd, Gadgets?...
Second, if you will buy anything from amazon and to be sent to UK, you must choose the merchandise from Amazon and not private sellers who sell on amazon, because that gift is considered as money only for amazon shop
Well, you can sell that card for a briton but you have to make sure that you will sacrifice some ££
Did you add the card yet?
If not go to ebay.co.uk, they are usually sold for the same amount there

We're talking at cross-purposes. I'm not suggesting that any products should be sent internationally. On the contrary, what I'm suggesting is a way of avoiding that.
I'm suggesting that someone in the UK should buy products in the UK to be sent to the UK by you ordering them on his behalf using up your credit with Amazon UK, and in exchange an Amazon UK customer who already has an Amazon US account (of whom there are many, of course, because many books are available from Amazon US only and not available via Amazon UK) could order stuff for you from the US to be sent to the US. It would be a way of using up the available funds without spending half of it on shipping.
Sorry if I didn't explain it clearly enough.
Maybe you hadn't realised that so many Amazon UK customers also have Amamzon US accounts? It was only knowing this that prompted the observation. Unfortunately I haven't made enough posts here yet to use private messages, but when I have, if you wish to contact me I'll happily put you in touch with some of them, if it helps.
