I've been doing affiliate marketing now for over five years and I have seen it all. Some affiliate marketers absolutely amaze me, and NOT in a good way. Makes me wonder how any of these people have any success at all. Well, the truth is, many of them don't have any success. As a matter of fact, 95% of the affiliate marketers out there aren't making squat. Well, if you're one of them, this article is going to share a few mistakes that you may be making that could be contributing to your failures. You might want to make note of these.
At the top of the list is the choice of product. Yeah, I know...go for the gold. Well, the gold isn't always where you think it is. Just because some big guru has come out with his super product of the day, or there's something over at Clickbank with a gravity of 500, doesn't mean that these are the products YOU should be selling. Products that are this popular are very difficult for the little guy to sell because of all the competition out there. Perhaps you've noticed that for yourself. You're better off picking something that is off the radar but still proven to sell.
After that, there is the matter of ads...such as the ones that you DON'T write. Oh don't tell me you do. I know the routine. You sign up for the big guru product and the first thing you do is go look for all his canned ads that he's written. Well, guess what? That's what ALL his affiliates are doing...all 500 of them. When people see the same ads over and over, they lose their effectiveness. The affiliates who write their own ads are the ones who make the bulk of the sales.
Finally, we have a little matter of not tracking your ads. If you're the typical affiliate marketer, you have ads all over the place. Well, some places produce good results and some produce no results. If you don't track your clicks on these ads, how are you going to know which ones are working and which ones aren't? You're just going to end up spinning your wheels and getting nowhere. Tracking your clicks and conversions is basic 101 affiliate marketing.
