How is it possible for me to clean virus off my infected PC without reinstalling. Can someone recommend any antivirus i can get online. Maybe a trial version to start with.

you should use a strong antivirus software (ex : Kaspersky, Antivir, AVG,...) .
Besides , you can install a antispyware (ex : Spyware Doctor, ...)
Hope your PC will be cleaned virus.

Just use karpersky. It will clean up everything.

Don't just download every free anti-virus (or so it is called) software out there. There are some which will do the opposit of what you want to prevent.
Go with established (there are some free versions too)

On the subject, there is a program called HighjackThis, if you suspect your computer is infected, this program can be used to display ALL active processes on your computer, so you could later post that on geek forums and get an advise about how to get rid of the malware.
Search for "HighjackThis",... don't be scared of this program name.
