Re: Hello
LTM, be wise, be shrewd. There are a lot of eye-pleasing things on this site. Chat, read a lot, and understand before you undertake.
Remember all advertising is marketing aimed at getting you to spend. An ad doesn't mean that TG endorses it, or that it legit. It just means someone paid money to have their ad here.
Tread lightly!

Re: Hello
Hi Clive. There is a folder dedicated to trading.
I learned a lot attending those free seminars that try to sell you software & services, like WiseTrade, 4xMadeEasy, etc. If you see them advertised (late night or Saturdays) you know where to go and can walk in. You can probably visit a website like 4x' and find a schedule. They are in the position to sell, and they want your attendance.
I wouldn't give them personal info, unless you want them to be calling you. They send me promotions. That is fine with me.
Expect a hard sale. They might even say...you've spent two hours here ~ what is your time worth? Shaming you into buying, etc. Leave you wallet in the glove box, and buy nothing. Just go in to learn. Stay and ask questions if you want.
Read the financial pages, keep on track of the financial news websites, and if you have financial channels, watch. Realize that everything (news) is regurgitated. You are in the LEARN mode.
Get a play account at an brokerage and try your knowledge. PLAY a long time. The play modes aren't quite like real-time, and "fills" are always made at your rate, not like real-time. Playing lets you learn the broker's software, and gives you more training resources. If you are a happy trader, then you'll stay with them, and they make commissions.
You'll see lots of differences with online brokers. Scottrade is cheap, and their service is pretty thin. OptionsXpress is more expensive, and their resources are fantastic. Maybe play in one and trade in the other? Scotrade (TD/Ameritrade now) does charge a quarterly fee if you are not using your account. OX does not.
LEARN. Practice a lot. When you are really sure, fund your account with only what you can afford to lose, and stick to your plan. Trading is emotional, and "a good feeling" often makes for a "big loss."
All the best ~
ML
