What are your favorite and best ways to get traffic to your site?

I sent my program ( I have only one) to my whole addressbook including friends, family and spammers telling them I joined one of the forex affiliates which is in my signature and that they will get $50 if they join and fund account only with $200. If they don't have the money to open the account themselves and they would like to start forex trading, I ask them to get 4 people to open small account and so they will get $50 from each of them directly to their trading account and so can start. I think my broker is the only one who does this, but not sure.

So basically send your program to all your address book and tell them this is your new business. As long as it is honest and legal, some people will join.

I do twitter, social network marketing, article marketing, and quality, info-filled blog posts at my blog. Organic traffic just pour in.

The most consistent and profitable trafficfor me has been organic search engine traffic.

Use a lot of backlinks.

PPC is the quickest way to get traffic and is my main method. Article marketing bum marketing is good but it takes a while.

I throw money at keywords to see what's making sales even at a loss, sometimes because I know I can rank up later with seo.

There is no faster way at getting traffic. Want a 1000 hits to your site tomorrow? You can set up a ppc campaign to do that. It will cost you, but if you know what your doing and have a pretty good idea of what keywords are making money, you'll recover.

Or you can wait 3 to 6 months writing articles, squidoo lenses, free blogs etc to get that kind of traffic. You will get their, but what if when you do get there you realize you picked a bad market. All that time just wasted away.

With ppc you would have know if your market is good in less than a week.

Then all the time building articles, squidoos blogs etc would have been worth it 3 to 6 months down the line.

It doesn't necessary take money to make money, but having money to pay for advertising will get you to where you want to be much much faster.
