I am thinking about spending a couple of weeks in the province of Quebec. I have been to Montreal a couple of times briefly, but never had time to explore. Does anybody has advice or suggestions and tips of which places to visit, where to stay, where to eat, etc?
I know only "hi", bye", "please", "thank you", and "I love you" in French, but my kid is in French immersion so it may be a good exercise. All Quebecians were happy to speak English to me, in those couple of visits, after I explained to them that the only other choice would be Russian ;-)

No, I never been to Quebec City. Only to Montreal a couple of times for a couple of hours, but it was years ago. I am not exactly sure about the dates, but probably sometime mid to end of July. So, what are the good places in Montreal?

This 5-word french set might do well enough..depending on the situation

I had that strange believe more than 20 years ago, that it would be more than sufficient if I visited France.... But I am older now, and it is not France... In Ontario, some people would probably scream bloody sexual harassment... :-(

Hope you will enjoy your stay in Quebec. I have plans to visit Tokyo this summer... but haven't decided on the date yet.

Mind being a little more specific? What kind of food do you enjoy? Do you care for nightlife?
Schwartz is somewhat of a landmark in Montreal, being a famous Smoked Meat (unlike any other smoked meat) restaurant.
Moishe's is a fantastic restaurant, specializing in steak.
Queue Cheval is another excellent restaurant for steak.
Some of the best Pho in Canada can be found at Pho Lien.
Surprisingly, Bangkok (not Bangkok 2) has incredible, authentic Thai cuisine.
The two top sushi places are Osaka (for authentic sushi), and Shodan (for celebrity-featured fusion).
For nightlife, you could hit my two favorite clubs: B-Side on Saint Laurent, and Tribe in the Old Port. If you're looking for a very unique club experience, I suggest going to Bourbon in Saint Adele... that club is the size of a legitimate city. It's ridiculous. The top strip club in North America (non-contact) is Wanda's. I believe Kanye West met his girl there ;p
If you are a cigar smoker, I suggest the Whiskey Cafe on Saint Laurent. It is the top cigar lounge in Canada, and features more types of Whiskey than most have ever seen. For beer? Bieres et Compagnie on Saint Denis. Over 100 types of beer from all over the world, and excellent Mussels.
Oh, and depending on when you drop by, I might be there. AlertPay is also located in Montreal, if you're bored enough to drop in on them.

Thank you Patryn, I am going with a family which includes a nine-year old kid. I am afraid the most exotic places will be out of question... As for food, being bad Jews we can eat almost anything, but stake and sushi probably sound most interesting. We probably will spend not more than couple of days there, either before Quebec City or after. I am going drop by Immunotec Research. I was also wondering if there are any historical attractions like museums, architecture, parks... What would be a nice place to stay? Not tooo fancy, but nice. Someplace that we do not have to drive around to see attractions, and just in case, if there are any "eateries"/hotels to avoid. As for smoking, I smoke about anything that burns ;-)
