By now you are probably well aware that NFA has made a new rule that prohibits US Forex Dealer Members from carrying customer accounts with opposing positions in the same account past the end of the trading day ("no -hedging"). The rule also requires all positions to be closed in historical order, otherwise known as 'first in first out' (FIFO). There has been wide speculation among user groups what these changes may bring, how they are going to affect the Metatrader platform, how automated trading scripts are going to be affected (Expert Advisors) and what retail trading is going to look like in the future.

The 'No-Hedging' rule has been in effect for over a month now and as many of you can attest most of the statements of "doom and gloom" have been highly exaggerated. The FIFO rule implementation has been extended once already and there is continuous talks amongst all companies, platform vendors (software companies), and NFA as to what will be permitted and how things should be working out. In the midst of these changes some dealers have decided to use the rule changes as a selling point for their offshore service centers. They try to amplify the uncertainty and to play on the customers' fears. It is unclear if they are well equipped to maintain a properly operating MT4 platform in these jurisdictions. Most of them have very little history of operating one. It is certain though that it would be costly and inconvenient to close everything and move an account to an untested firm.

Forex - Today is the U.S. retail sales.
News and events:
Retail sales today will be an interesting test of the FX market reaction to U.S. data may be change. Currently, the trend is counter-intuitive in that the positive U.S. data are seen as "pro-risk", causing the sale of the dollar. Recent discussions of the members of the FOMC participants and globally on the timing of the end of the mound of monetary policy have made the markets discounting a rise of 50 points in the rates at year end, thus causing the strength of the dollar (with a capital out of emerging markets and raw materials). We believe that the FX markets have proved their "hand". The question now is what the economic conditions that have to exist so that the markets discounting a return to the Fed tightening? Obviously, the health of U.S. consumers, a view through the barometer of retail sales, will be key to answering this question. In a quick note, today's data will contain the recent rise in fuel prices (25%), which will divert and obfuscate the real value our ability to discern the real drivers of prices. There is some debate about the success of auctions in 10 years yesterday. For us, the bid-cover ratio and awards to indirect holdings were good and do not reflect any financial constraints. Heads of the Russian government said the central bank of Russia will decrease its share in treasuries and buy bonds from the IMF. The media still focus on history (supported by the slight sell-off of U.S. treasuries) that the comments of several holders of reserves in emerging countries, including Russia, China and Brazil, which recently expressed its willingness to buy the securities IMF (presumably denominated in SRDs) is equivalent to a loss of reserve status of the dollar. Overall, we see that this is so simple (especially a shift away from the USD would be a significant task) but, more importantly, we see no evidence in the price action. In New Zealand, the RBNZ kept the rates in 2.50%. It seems that the markets expect a cut of 25 points as the NZD rose rapidly to 0.6380 against the USD. The RBNZ has indicated that the recent improvement in domestic activity balanced the risk of decline for the economy and the need to monitor the cuts passed. In Sweden, the Riksbank announced that it received a loan of 3 billion euros from the ECB, indicating the potential need to take that offer liquidity assistance to banks. This news, along with the stories of Latvia, the SEC should maintain pressure.

EURUSD Daily Forecast 14/07/09
The EURUSD had a moderate bullish momentum yesterday, topped at 1.4000 and closed at 1.3986. On h4 chart below we have a triangle indicates consolidation market and unclear direction. For today, pay close attention to 1.4050/70 resistance area that should be tested today. Break above that area should trigger further upside pressure testing 1.4176 area. Immediate support at 1.3900 – 1.3850 area. Break below that area should trigger further downside pressure testing 1.3750 key support level. CCI in neutral area on daily chart..

EURUSD Daily Forecast 15/07/09
The EURUSD didn't make significant movement yesterday. The pair attempted to push lower, bottomed at 1.3910 but closed higher at 1.3970. On daily chart below we can see that the trendline support still hold so far, preventing further bearish pressure and protecting 1.3750 key support level. On the upside, we know that 1.4050/70 area has been a strong resistance since last week but remains a potential area to be tested. For today, expect a ranging market between 1.4050 and 1.3850. Break above 1.4050/70 area should trigger further bullish momentum re-testing 1.4176. Please click here to see the chart.

GBPUSD Daily Forecast: July 15
The GBPUSD had a bullish momentum yesterday, topped at 1.6342 and closed at 1.6323. The bias is bullish in nearest term but we seem to have a good resistance around 1.6380 area. Break above that area should trigger further bullish momentum towards 1.6470 area. However I still believe that now is not the best time to trade and I still focus more on the unclear medium bias, where price trapped between 1.6660 – 1.6000 with a series of false breakdown/breakout adding uncertainty (see chart below)

EURUSD Daily Forecast: July 16.
The EURUSD had a bullish momentum yesterday, topped at 1.4134 and closed at 1.4102. It's too early for a bullish scenario view, but the 1.4050 resistance was convincingly broken for the first time since June 03, so we might have something here that could lead to more significant movement. As long as the pair able to stay above 1.4050, we can expect further upside momentum towards 1.4176 area before re-testing 1.4336 key resistance level. Failure to do so should take us back towards 1.3950 and 1.3850 area. CCI in overbought area and heading down on h4 chart suggesting potential downside pullback.

EURUSD Daily Forecast: July 17.

The EURUSD continued it’s upside momentum yesterday. On h4 chart below we have trendline resistance breakout suggesting bullish view but still unable to break above 1.4176 key resistance level. Today is the last trading day for this week and I hope we will see more significant movement. Break above 1.4176 should trigger further bullish momentum testing 1.4336 area. Initial support remains at 1.4050. CCI about to cross the 100 line down on h4 chart suggesting potential downside pullback.
