Liberty Reserve's Shady Business Practices. Took my money - no support
My account U0845999 (Jose M) has been limited since MAY 17, 2009!
Every time I try to login, I get: Your account is temporarily limited. Please contact our support department for details.
I have tried re-setting my password - this does nothing.
Over the months I have opened countless amount of support tickets.
The only response I got was:
Quote:
Dear Jose,
Please provide us further information about your request.
Let us know if we may assist you further.
Sincerely,
Sandro.
I responded with more information, and received nothing in reply. There is no doubt they have my countless e-mails but have chosen not to reply.
The latest reply was on July 3rd.. All I got was:
Quote:
Dear Jose,
We will contact you with further information.
Sincerely,
Sandro.

We will always address you by your first name.
We will never send you attached files or ask you to update your login information.

No further responses.
The account has a little over $9,000 in it, which I got from a legitimate exchange. The account was only funded and not used for anything else. It was limited only after I complained about the security of my API after some funds were stolen due to their failed API system which fails to adequately protect some users who enable it.
I did so. Here are the contents of our conversations:

Dear Sir,
We are sorry to hear about your loss. Please note that our API interface
is very secure and is being monitored round the clock for integrity and
performance. Our API and SCI interfaces are kept up to date and scanned
by various third party service providers continuously which, as result,
makes us comply with the same stringent security standards as credit
card industry uses. Now, all matters of any type of unauthorized access
to a client's account are taken very seriously. Since you imply that
there was an unauthorized access to your API interface or your account,
we now have to make sure that funds are released to the rightful owner.
You have associated both accounts by yourself. Please send us (to
(business@libertyreserve.cr) a color scan of your passport, any
bank/credit cards statement and a utility bill that reflects the
information listed on your account - and your account will be
immediately released. Customer's safety is our primary concern.
Regards,
Eric Paltz.
Several things about that e-mail are quite hilarious. Nevertheless, I obliged and provided them with legitimate colour ID (passport, bank slips, etc).

We have transferred received documents to our legal department to see if
they meet their requirements criteria. We anticipate them to provide us
with the answer tomorrow.
Regards,
Eric Paltz.
Communication at this point ceased despite my best efforts.
If it's any interest to you, his e-mail headers are as follows:
I tried my luck with online support, but it's like talking to a Robot. Every person I spoke to gave almost identical replies.

I have had this problem for a long time, I have complained to support, I have contacted business, no responses. This is due to a security issue I had with my other account. And now they've blocked this account for no reason. My account is LIMITED. Due to your security department.
Jose : There's no security issue.. I want my account back.
Brian: Please contact our Technical Department by contact form, We do not recognize this message in our system: (Your account is temporarily limited Please contact our support department for details), They will be more than glad to assist you with your case. The following link will take you there:

They're either stupid or they just want to drag it on without having to fix the problem.
libertyreserve.cr is an intriguing domain. Cr is of course a Costa Rican domain and they are supposedly in costa rica. There's no website there but clearly they respond and use libertyreserve.com's server to send out e-mails according to the above headers.
The whois info for libertyreserve.cr is:

I gave them the chance to fix this and instead they would rather remain ignorant. Now I'd like to ask anyone who is in a similar situation where Liberty Reserve has stolen funds or at least provided inadequate support, if you'd like to talk, perhaps we can come up with something.
This is no longer about the $10,000 - but instead the fact that I cannot trust them to put any more money in my account.
Some will say I'm lying or trying to cause havoc or I'm paid or a troll or my first post is about LR so I must be the devil. Bullshit, and I don't really care what you say. Judging by their blog, the only way to hit them where it hurts is with their public relations. If I'm going to donate $10k to them, I want to get my money's worth I want to issue a press release stating my intention to claim damages and will do so through the appropriate channels. Perhaps they will enjoy handing over more money than I originally had in the account and pay my legal fees.
I'm also interested.. has anyone gone to the Costa Rican government to ask about their registration number or tax file status listed on the website? And the DNS Made Easy address?
They are not too big to be selective scammers.. and I believe this to be a classic case, until I'm proven otherwise.
Re: Liberty Reserve's Shady Business Practices. Took my money - no support
Dear Jose,
I just read your whole email, what it cames to my mind, is that you were scam for a phishing site, you are giving to yourself the answer to your questions. It is very disappointed that you lost a lot of money and that your account is still block. However, I see the dates which are very long ago, why did you wait so much time to solve this issue?
As a Lr user, I think we must be very careful with our account, as you may know, you are the only one carried a password, and maybe you provided your information to someone else. That is what I think as Brian told you that they did not recognize this message in the system: “Your account is temporarily limited Please contact our support department for details” Maybe someone else is trying to stealing your information and for that reason you got your account blocked. Did you receive any answer of legal department?
I hope you can find a solution as soon as possible, it is nice to donate, but we are in crisis for doing that now. And thank you in advance for remaining us that we must be careful using online currency. You can be very easy a victim of a conartist.
Re: Liberty Reserve's Shady Business Practices. Took my money - no support
I just spoke with Eric on your behalf. He will speak with legal with regards to this tomorrow.

LR is only good for small transfers. 5 or max. 10 dollars.
The directos of this anonym company are criminal.
Which problem did you have? Your account was blocked, you did not receive any replay, you could not open the site or you could not chat live.
Which are the stupid reasons they gave you? What is for you nothing? Why do you assure that LR scam their big clients? Are you a big client who was scam? And then do you know also the directors?
Well, I do not understand that because your post is not clear enough. Since now, I have not had any troubles using this site, the security is excellent that is why I trust it.

I am willing to help you, assuming you cease blowing smoke and spreading lies/assumption.
1) They do not "scam their big clients". $9k does not make you "a big client".
2) The company is not anonymous, at all. In fact, their listing with the CR government was made public and posted here on this forum several months ago.

$90k maybe.
Hope the man will get the money back..
Re: Liberty Reserve's Shady Business Practices. Took my money - no support
I think, some people here don't believe that you have $9000...
I have a good idea: go to your LR account, go to "Public Information Summary" and make public your balance. Then anybody can check that you really have $9000 by clicking here: https://www.libertyreserve.com/en/se....aspx?U0845999
Please don't refuse this...
