Dear Participant,
Our website is currently under a heavy Distributed Denial of Service
(DDoS) attack, which means it may be unavailable to most users.
To those of your who do not know what a Distributed Denial of Service
(DDoS) attack is, here is a short explanation taken from Wikipedia: A
denial-of-service (DoS) attack is an attack on a computer system or
network that causes a loss of service to users, typically the loss of
network connectivity and services by consuming the bandwidth of the victim
network or overloading the computational resources of the victim system.
In a distributed attack, the attacking computer hosts are often zombie
com puters with broadband connections to the Internet that have been
compromised by viruses or Trojan horse programs that allow the
perpetrator to remotely control the machine and direct the attack, often through
a botnet. With enough such slave hosts, the services of even the
largest and most well-connected websites can be denied.
As usual, our excellent DDoS solution provider, BlockDos.net, is
already on top of things and is working with us to combat these new attacks
that this time come with a never-before-seen attack pattern.
I hope to have the service restored within an hour or two, and will
keep you posted with any updates.
** Please note that in order to keep our bandwidth low for the rest of
the day, we may not send another email notifying you of our site being
back up and running if we are able to mitigate this DDoS attack within
a short period of time **
I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and as always, appreciate
your continued patience.
