De Blanc
One consistent runner here. Have won two races this year and a 5th out of 9 in a class 2 two runs ago. Miss V Williams have been having some success and today may add to it. Williams have 3 wins out of 12 races at this track and with good recent form makes this picks strong. I also like De Blanc finishes in its last 5 races (two 1st, 2nd and 3rd with one 5th)
Screen Test
Decent 2nd places finish on the hurdle debut in Jan 26th. Was ahead of 3rd by 5 lengths in a NvH (Juv) at Warwick. King had some nice runners Sunday with Senorita Rumbalita and Shrajan finished 2nd at the price of 25/1. I believe enough for the trainers form to continue and Screen Test to have its first win here.
Desert Lover
Desert Lover is on a two race win streak and is not a bad idea to bet its going to be three (3). Both wins are done by good margins of 2.5 and 5 lengths of 2nd place. Very little can challenge this one today. One is Beneking who has two wins and two 2nds in its last 4 races. Benekings runs have been less competitive compare to Desert Lover’s. Today can finally give Desert Lover its first win at this track with the help of the jock with one of the most wins at this track.
Heathcote
Heathcote is one to favor here along with Avalon. It’s up to these two who will finish first. Heathcote has 1 win and a 2nd place in 2 Hurdle runs. Heatcote’s rider has 11 wins here in only 80 races here. He is facing the best here in McCoy who’s currently at 49 wins in 169 tries. Heatcote’s running have been better between the two (Avalon finished 3rd in the two races behind by 14 and 6.5.
Blue Moon Hitman
Won a Class 5 two races ago but followed that by a 6th just over a week later. This one is going to be another strong run. Its trainer had a very nice winner at Southwell and hopefully the abilities of that runner can also be in todays. Plenty of challengers but Blue has a good draw that’s helped previous winners.
Spark Up
The last couple of runs looked promising at this course. Both finishes of 4th behind by 4 and 2 lengths. Those were both 9 furlongs and this shorter trip is going to help a lot. Bookie of Kelly also looks good for a winner…plus the trainer have had only 4 runners since Jan. 28th – finishes of 4th, 2nd, 3rd, 4th – 4th all came from Spark Up….a 1st really looks good with a field that does not look very challenging. Bodden Bay will be on the way but the experience of Spark Up’s jock will hold everyone behind.
