There are all kind of ways to make money online ranging from extremely risky to fairly safe.

The safest method is affiliate marketing... choose a product, and advertise it online.

Like I said it depends on what you want to risk, and how much time you want to put into the project.

If you are an expert in some field or are a big fan of something you should make a bog about it, start writing, make a profile in facebook and twitter, participate in forums and blog comments that are relevant to your item. In this way, if you write interesting info, you will obtain traffic to your website or blog. Once you have traffic you can join affiliate programs or Google adsense.

If you are running an online business, you should be building an opt-in email list.You can promote new products, new site content and blog updates. You can also promote affiliate links to your subscribers.
There are lots of reasons why you should have an opt-in list - but many businesses don't. For many it seems complicated, time consuming or expensive. And while it can be - it doesn't have to be. For my projects I use AWeber and they are the best I've found. It's made so easy to add sign-up boxes/forms to your site and to manage the content that gets emailed.

If you have more time than money then article marketing is the way to start.

1. Pick a product or service and sign up to its affiliate program.

2. Use the free Google Adwords keyword tool to gather some keywords that people interested in your product would search for.

3. Get a Google account and set up a free Blogger blog. Make the name of the blog a keyword you are targeting. Write a blog post with a link to your affiliate offer.

4. Write a 300-400 word articles about your product or service using a keyword in the title and several times in the main body.

5. Open a free account with Ezine Articles and submit your article with a link to your blog.

6. Repeat.

Start with the basics and learn as you go along. Don't run before you can walk.
