Default hyip gets into wikipedia and PIPS the biggest ?

If you search on wikipedia about hyip you will get this explanation that HYIP is:

Quote:
HYIP stands for High Yield Investment Program. HYIPs are purported investment programs normally offered via the Internet. HYIPs typically accept investments of $100 or less while promising high returns. The introduction of e-currencies such as e-gold and StormPay (although almost all HYIPs do not use StormPay as of February 2006, see StormPay article for why) has made it easy for HYIPs to operate across international boundaries, and to accept large numbers of small investments.

No HYIP has, as yet, survived for very long without turning out to be a scam. Scam HYIPs are Ponzi schemes, in which new investors (usually unwittingly) provide the cash to pay a profit to existing investors, which they could then withdraw leaving nothing to pay the new investor. This approach allows the scam to continue as long as new investors are found and/or old investors leave their money in the scheme, known as compounding (because even higher profits are promised).

The largest HYIP scam that has ever existed is PIPS (People in Profit System or Pure Investors)[1], [2]. The investment scheme was started by an engineer, Bryan Marsden, in 2004 (according to the Wayback Machine record of http://pureinvestor.com) and spanned more than 20 countries in the world.
The strange thing there is wayback machine who track hyip records ? Anybody here is the owner of wayback machine ??? and PIPS is the biggest hyip in history of mankind.

I don`t know for sure that PIPS was the biggest of all HYIPs, but it does make the point that it is a scam, which by now I imagine most people have concluded for themselves.

I should think that in terms of financial loss, Mr. Marsden's scam is still eclipsed by the Albanian Ponzi schemes of 1996 - 1997, which almost bankrupted the country, triggered riots (near civil war) in which around 2000 people were killed, and which toppled its government.

So Bryan Marsden (alias Barry James) still has something to aspire to ....

Highyieldbiz.com
Not quite as simple as that, I'm afraid. It is more of an archive of old websites, it's not a HYIP tracker.

It gives people the chance to look at old websites that have been taken down or changed and I believe it lists the dates of the changes and that you can click on the change dates to view the before/after websites.

I'm no expert and haven't used it for ages, will post the URL if I can locate it.

The Wayback Machine is at www.archive.org

If you've never used it, take a look around, it's interesting.

Can be quite useful for proving the lies of some Ponzi scams, like e.g. SolidInvestment, which (by the age of its web site) claimed that it had been in operation since 1998.
A check with The Wayback Machine showed that this claim was a lie: The scammers had bought a disused web site formerly owned by some completely different company in the marketing business.

The nest question is:
When this proof was posted on discussion forums (including Talkgold) in early 2006, did the Ponzi-slaves understand that when the scheme owners were obvious liars, the scheme must be run by dishonest people, and the members were certain to be conned out of their money?

Well, history speaks for itself .....

Why can't PIPS be the biggest program in the history? Let it have stopped functioning. Well, yes... it has already become a history.

After HYIP, Autosurfs also gets into wikipedia and do you know that Wikipedia will be published and sells to collectors so HYIP and Autosurfs will be common terms and printed on books.

Autosurfs according to Wikipedia :

Quote:
An autosurf is a type of online advertising program. Autosurfs are traffic exchanges that automatically rotate advertised websites in one's Internet browser. They are capable of bringing a large amount of traffic to the advertised websites. Members earn credits for each site that they view, which can then be spent to advertise members' sites by adding them to the autosurf rotation. Sites may additionally be added by external advertisers who pay the autosurf operators.

Autosurfs differ from manual traffic exchanges in that the site rotation is automatic; an ad viewer need not respond or even view the sites. Many autosurfs also pay their viewers a percentage or hourly commission to view the advertised sites; this concept can be likened to a paid to surf site. However, a large number of autosurfs are investment autosurfs: to earn money surfing, members must pay a fee and are then promised a certain return on their fee. The "investment" is claimed to be (usually disguised as) a membership or upgraded membership fee and the "return", a per-site commission. There is a strong possibility that most investment autosurfs are Ponzi schemes, and thus breaking the law and/or deceiving their users; whereas paid to surf sites usually had a viable business model where advertisers would pay for the site to be viewed but not earn money in return.
And guess which autosurfs got mentioned in wikipedia : 12DP
