Re: MUST READ: List of SCAMMERS and potential FRAUDS
Time to change or add some new rules maybe!
Too may scammers here!
I hope admins and moderators will think about it.
But now with this additional rule the scammers will run away.
It's not my idea. (from another forum)
Quote:
All post which do not conform to the following rules will be deleted.
PM mod for permission to make your first offer to exchange.
1. Must be a member for 90 days and made 50 relevent post in the forum. Relevancy will be in the soul judgement of the Moderators.
2. If you are using a tunneler, you will not be permitted to post here.
IP's will be checked.
3. No hidden offers though PMs. All exchange offers must begin on the forum. Members making offers though PMs should be reported and will be banned.
4. Private information should not be posted on the open forum. Real names, email addresses, etc.
The Exchange
1. Make speedy exchange. (Within 2/3 days)
2. If, there is a problem post problem and how you plan to resolve the problem.
3. Post all replies in your thread.
4. Post details when exchange is complete.
talkgold forum is NOT responsible, if you lose money.
talkgold124, I`ve moved your post over from another thread. As merges are done in chronological order your post is shown at the beginning of this new thread.
Hi admin!
May be my "idea" is not too smart or too fresh... I thought TG can setup additional "rank" , let's say "verified exchanger" and to set additional qualification requirements for it (having 50 posts is apparently not sufficient to be able to use Exchange Folder).
May be the new qualifications should include some basic ID verification - not complicated one like PayPal's of course, but may be potential exchangers can submit some basic info - and be required to stick to it - I mean like 1 email address, 1 egold account per person, no multiple accounts to cover tracks.
Of course all the others would be still allowed to post or exchange, but these "verified exchangers" would just be/appear more trustworthy. Smth like having 'id verified' icon next to one's eBay username, you see?
...eh, did it make any sense? Sorry if I babbled too much

I second this idea. Setup a diffrent user class under vBulletin that will rank users as Verified with a diffrent color username for easy identification. Users will have to send some type of identity verification to obtain said rank (eg. government ID plus go as far as to require utility bills and verify users' address).

This is a great idea in theory but we have had 'trusted' members in the past who later go on to scam.
As for obtaining ID, again it's a fantastic idea but we all know what can be done in Photoshop.
I agree, something needs to be done but when people are using proxies and getting a new account here is so easy I'm afraid we often only know about scammers after they have scammed.
We put the 50 post/50 day rule in place and to some extent it has helped but if members are being contacted by newbies by messenger and then go on to do business with them then that makes our attempts at cleaning this place up futile.
I would like to see a rule in place where members must report newbies who contact them for exchanges and a permanent ban for established members who are caught flouting that rule.
If we are to end the constant exchange scams then I believe it is the responsibility of all members who trade e-currencies and debit cards to alert a mod or other members if they suspect someone. I don't think TalkGold should offer some type of vetting/verification service which could be seen by some as the forum being responsible for the action of it's members.

What about a system like Guarenteed HYIP's??
For EG.....If a member wants to trade in the exchange folder they would FIRST need to deposit $250 with TG to be held in "trust".
This deposit would then allow the member to trade with any member up to the value of $250.
If any customer could show proof that the trader scammed then TG would use the $250 in trust to pay the customer.
The balance of the $250 would be forfeited and the trader Banned permenantly.
True honest traders would not complain about the $250...But the scammers will.
I think a third party escrow would be a much better choice... Would not work with paypal though.... A scammer would be able to do a few exchanges then charge it back...

Yeah but with the security we have anybody will get verified in 1 click dont think we are in eBay here .... eBay`s security just that worths about 20 million dollars when we get that to invest in security i guarantee that we scammers will be 60% less than now
Anyway i got some time to read talkgold124's rulles and they look good to work with now is the Administrators decision
1. Another approach might be enhancing iTraders' Ratings system.
If I understand right, now you are able to give somebody a rating based on PM transaction. (Please correct me if I got this wrong - I was checking one member's ratings and when clicking on rating was told that transaction reference thread is private and cannot be viewed).
If this is the case, why not just disable this - let folks do their deals via PM, but Rattings must reserved for "public" deals only.
2. May be more proof should be provided that transaction is completed. Random request of a screenshot or batch # proof - do you think it can prevent fake ratings when 2 scammers "make a deal" and grant each other fake praise feedback?
3. A bit off-topic, but still related. Can you add 'report bad post' button link for PMs? I personally am sick and tired of receiving PMs from fellows with 25-26 posts asking for exchange. They do not yet qualify to use Exchange Folder, so may be it is best to make this folder not accessible for them?
That's all for now. Hope you won't consider my earnest efforts to be a spam post
P.S. I especially like "soul judgement of moderators" in OP.
