Gmail Increases Storage To 10GB For Free

Google's generosity knows no (10GB) bounds

Yesterday was a big day for technology, after Google unveiled Google Drive - and to celebrate, the company has decided to up the website's free storage to 10GB.

Launched all the way back in 2004, the storage limit was initially 1GB - but when consumers cottoned on to the popularity of Gmail, Google later increased it to 7.5GB. Now, the new storage limit will be rolled out gradually, with users granted 8GB of storage followed by 9GB and finally 10GB will be bestowed upon their Gmail allowance.

Here's Gmail being pleased as punch with their offering:

"Today, we're happy to announce that we're increasing everyone's free storage in Gmail from 7.5 GB to 10 GB (and counting) to celebrate today's launch of Google Drive. The increase will take effect over the next 24 hours. We hope you all enjoy the little bump!"

However, compared to the likes of Yahoo! and AOL where they offer unlimited email storage, Gmail's additional touch doesn't really sound like much of a big deal. Yet its seamless integration of services such as Google Docs, Blogger and Picasa is recognised as an essential resource amongst those who prefer one login for a group of features - plus its announcement alongside the launch of Google Drive makes it sound even more appealing.

Great info. Thanks! Anyway, I have never ever used on any email more than 1Gb. No, seriously! That is why I never understood the reason of such bonuses of emails
