I've been seeing a lot of advertisements for different courses and stuff about how to make money on the internet. but I think a lot of it just looks like scams. anyone here have some pointers on how a beginner would start or where to look for honest information?

Well if your are looking for a bank or financial service I recommand to only do business with officially registred partners.

To know if a bank is registred and regulated by autorities go to the web site of this autorities. For example UK : www.fsa.gov.uk , Belgium http://www.cbfa.be/

To see a link to this website on the bank site is not enough - anybody can put a link on his web page

If you want to incorporate an offshore company start with the web site of local autorities (delaware.gov - for example)
