In the USA they are proposing (if not already enacted) a law making it tougher to spam and if so, the penalties are much more severe. I guess it is like the never ending war on drugs, terrorism, and homelessness.
Never use your main email account to sign up for anything. All it takes is one time,then you will be fighting spam for a long time.
