Upcoming Trials

Nineteen trials were scheduled for December 11th and December 12th, 2008. I have resolved three matters with consent judgments from Skye Karls, Gary Schreier, and Charles Russo. Eleven others were settled for approximately $106,000. Trials presently going forward are E-Business, Nahawee Alwine and Nevin Alwine, Chris Bergland, Shad Foss, Gary Harbin, Ronnie Montano

Another 20 individuals are scheduled for trial on January 8, 2008.
Fee Applications

Both my firm, W. G. Hays & Associates, LLC (Hays) and my counsel, Greenberg Traurig, LLP (Greenberg) have filed fee applications for the 12 months ending September 30, 2008 that will be heard in Judge Massey’s Court in Atlanta at 11:00 a.m. on December 16, 2008. At this time, Hays is seeking payment of fees and expenses of $286,557.65 and Greenberg is seeking payment of $393,436.06. Notices of these applications are attached in the Documents section of this site.

Notice of Lawsuit Settlements

I have posted in the Documents section a Notice and the Motion for Settlement of certain of the Receiver’s claims against investors whose trial was scheduled in December 2008. The Court will consider approval of those settlements and any party in interest may file an objection within 15 days of the posting on this site. Objections may be filed with the Court as directed in the Notice.

With the vast majority of the posters on this forum being sucked like moths to a light bulb to the latest "name u top five HYIP"-type threads , it sure is refreshing to see a few dilligent observers following up on the aftermath of these SCAMS months, and even years after the crooks have disappeared with everyone's money.

I do not really understand this.

So how many years of prison got the main figures who were running this scam?
Because for sure all trials must been finished, because this scam was closed down in the summer of 2007.

And people - simple investors - who did get some kind of nice returns (like over $5,000), but they kept the money, are still looked for by the authorities? After some 19 months????

So not only they have to pay back profits...They are even being charged interest on their ill gotten gains

Yes. Even the 'winners' in this arena, can still end up 'losing'.
And, some of those 'losses' may not be just 'financial'...

OK, anyone has any news about what the sentences were for those running this very large scam?

Or in the USA the legal system may take ages (= many years?) to reach any kind of final sentence/decision in a case like this?

If this is the sad situation, it makes sense to check this thread only once every 6 months, and to hope that in our lifetime we'll find out what these sentences were.
