I would contact your local state Attorney Generals' office and Tennessee's Attorney Generals' office and give them copies of everything. That should help resolve the scam that SP is pulling.

If you ignore collection agencies they can either give up or take you tocourt or realize its invalid, so either they will realize its invalid because you received the money back through a valid means or they will take you to court and then realize the truth from the judge.

In summary stormpay probably MAY send you to a collection agency, but the collection agency or a judge in the end should find your debt invalid.

Good summary, but they do have one other option. Sometimes they make a negative entry on your credit report, and it just sits there. Then if you go to borrow any substantial amount of money, the loan won't go through unless you pay the "debt." If that happens, you can contest it at that point and it will usually go away. If you happen to be denied the loan, then you have excellent grounds for a lawsuit if the debt was unjustified and the loan didn't go through. I have a hospital who ended up buying me a house that way. They never treated me in the first place, but their collection agency tagged my credit report. It worked out really well for me.

By the way - just ignore C-tec's grand jury comment. He's overmedicated again. He'll calm down when the drugs wear off.

Guys, don't listen to Countryterd's uninformed nonsense. The only way SP can get to your credit is to take you to court and obtain a judgment against you. You will have an opportunity to explain yourself, and the burden is on SP to show that the debt is legitimate.

A summary: if you'd like to take a look @ my transaction history PM me.

I guess the general advice is ignore it. Mention has been made of bank account. I have no bank account or credit cards attached to SP. They have my name and address, i think thats about it.

I don't really know if I can fight them - if you want to know why PM me.

Well they had to have some sort of information that completly tied you to that account.

Name and all information is all they need. Drivers license is enough to tie you to this debt. Phone number is enough to follow you...collection agencies are very good...guess that is why they are called "skip chasers" in honor of people who "skip out" of their bills

But you might be the lucky one...

I'm assuming your comment was directed at me, and you're absolutely right. That was an unprovoked, gratuitous attack. You have my apology. I'll try to do better. I just sort of couldn't help myself. But the old saying is that, "Temptation resisted is the true judge of character," and my character should be better than that. Again, my apologies.
