His response to me about the digots etc which I found to be condescending was not needed. He could have easily pointed out respectfully how the older digots were indeed appreciating. You are absolutely right Dave. I did mislead you when I referred to the post like that. I meant it as a whole - not just the first paragraph. I was simply trying to identify the post, not that particular paragraph of the post, as I had said subsequently.

I do realize that women can sometime "think" that men are supposed to be able to read their minds... and I am just as guilty as the next gal. But I still stand by my "talking down to me" assessment.

Now - can we move on please. Thnx.

DXGoddess: Fair enough... I understand now. I think the problem is also the platform in which we chose to communicate. A forum is a hard place to convey thoughts because you have to think about so many different people that will be reading the answer and there is a need to 'cater' to all... I do not think that I talk down to women but instead it is everyone. The talking down part comes from me having to explain my thoughts like I would to a child because I have to 'cater' to everyone who reads this forum which includes experts and newbies alike.

For example, when I am explaining something I like to use examples and be as thorough in my explaination as possible so as to avoid the need to come back later and re-explain when a thought is not understood by someone (which is more often than not by a person who I was not even addressing). So, rather than just answer a question yes or no, I will try and explain why. Now the person I might be talking to could be you, or artificial, or omega who are all people that have a good understanding of the system and do not need it explained to them all the time and it will appear as if I am talking down to them but you all know as well as I do that if I do not do this then I will have to re-explain it in a very detailed mannor when Dogman or someone takes what I have written and runs with and calls me a cheerleader or whatever and completely fails to grasp what I have said.

Please keep this in mind when you see my answers as condescending... I have learnt to post the way I do from experience. I have had some huge attacks laid at me because I wasn't condescending enough in the past (remember our political argument rebecca?) which has led to people upset because they didn't understand something. So where is the balance I guess? I honestly don't know... I try to answer questions as straight forward as I can and then I get met with confusion... so I re-answer the question using very simple examples and all of a sudden I am being an ego driven condescending prick. Damned if you do and damned if you don't situation.

P.S. Another example of a condescending post I made was to omega who is a guy... When we discussing the inflationary problems behind currency exchange in the system I adressed his posts with some very simple examples and made my thoughts very clear... Omega is a very smart guy and understood what I was saying but did not need the level of detail I was giving in my answers but he did not get upset and think that I was talking down to him but rather I think he understood that I was 'catering' to others that were reading the conversation... and yes, Dogman made an appearence in that thread also from memory
