Open an US bank account for non-US citizen

I know this is an old topic. I see here people mentioned lots about etrade and paypal but i think it's not quite what im looking for.

What i need is
a personal us bank account, so that i can receive and make personal payments in us, without bearing as much as the wire/wu cost
a simple, SAFE and economical way to withdraw fund from Australia.

is etrade still suitable for me? Is there any other options? I'd appreciate if anyone can help answer this.

Why Etrade doens't suit you? It's like a bank account.
Other alternative way is getting a debit card for your paypal.

Collection DXDirect Collection payments offer an escrow based payment process. Once you make a payment, the receiver can claim the payment, but the sender is required to release the payment to the receiver (e.g. on receipt of goods).
