I would say Firefox is much more superior than the Opera browser as well. I say Firefox because it is building an increasing strong customer base from the buggy IE6/7, it has several features that have an everlasting appeal, from tabbed browsing, to fascinating new plugins to the restore last session feature in the new 2.0 version.

It is inevitable, that with any new popular product it will be prone to attacks and security alerts, its just how things go, but i wouldn't say that Opera is a much more safer browser because there are less attacks being employed on it. Although that is true, you may argue the severity of these attacks, whether one major security flaw on the Opera browser surpasses that of 10 minor issues of the Firefox browser.

Overall the Firefox browser is becoming more and more securer and stable as its popularity increases.
