what is a script scam?

An E-bay seller shows you a picture of an expensive item; plasma TVs are especially popular. Then, the seller sets a very low price, such as $200, even though the pictured item would be retailed at $1500-2000. So, the intent of the seller is for people to notice the picture, and then quickly purchase the item.

HOWEVER, in the "description" section, the seller states that he is not selling an actual TV, but a "TV script." A script is a list of all retailers that would sell a given product. It does very little for the majority of people; essentially, unless you're in the script business, the script is worthless.

So, the seller tries to indirectly deceive the customer into buying a worthless script; the customer is basically throwing his money away if he falls for the scam. Let it be a warning to ALL E-bay customers: ALWAYS READ THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT!!!

thanks. I have come across that many, many, many, many, many, many times. Some will try and hide it in an elaborate and sometimes long description knowing people won't read it all. I am very hated amongst sellers because I ask every type of question known to man.
