Why do you refer to the number of posts I've made? I've made these posts over a couple of years or more. You have made yours over a few months. Which one of us has verbal diahrea? I would suggest that it may be you.

There are plenty of other folders here on Talkgold. Man, it sure would be a sad day in forum history if they ever got rid of this folder, because they would lose talkgold's biggest troll. Jimmy-2,025 posts since september 2005, and almost all of them negative insults.

The sad thing is, you were probably one of those kids that got teased alot, and you are making a sad attempt at making up for it by trying to respond negatively to every response in the warzone. Please explain in a little more detail. Why did America and Britain go to war with Iraq? Military Intelligence, WMD or maybe something to do with oil and USA's reliance on Middle East countries oil.

I've been retired for the the last 6-7 years. Before that I worked in Saudi Arabia. I was there when the Scud missiles came down during the first Gulf war.

I attended a meeting of US and British military intelligence and these very smart guy's told us not to worry. Scud missiles didn't have the range to reach our base. 30 minutes later they did. I didn't see those smart guys after that. Now that is intelligent. Get out while you can. Leave the grunts to take the brunt while you save your a$$.

The scuds they used were modified. They weren't that effective....they were usually off by 1km. The ones that hit Israel and Saudi Arabia didn't cause that many casualties, and the only reason that any of them came close to hitting was because the Patriot wasn't fully operational at the time they began launching..when the Patriot was fully operational, non even came close. Combined with the fact that the Iraqis were under heavy pressure to launch them made them relatively useless with our defense. I am sure you have been around long enough to know a little about satellites. There are many that do not stay in the same place. Iraq is/was not a third world country. All they did was turn off alot of their sam systems and radars during the time that the satellite was in line of site. During the time they weren't in line of site, they upgraded some of their weaponry. Just because we have intelligence doesn't mean that we can possibly know everything all the time. When the scuds are dormant, there is no way of anyone knowing what they are doing to modify the scuds.

Any weapon has a max effective range. There are little simple things that can be done to increase the range of a weapon system. However, not much can increase the accuracy with the pressure Iraq was facing to launch the scuds.

BTW, if you want to look up a little info about someone here...hint hint...look up ELINT.

Believe me when I tell you this, intel has been responsible for more lives saved during war and peace than you can count. A miscalculation every blue moon does not discredit the intelligence departments. I have full confidence in them, because I know what they can do...and what they have done. I don't know too much about the white house, but I do know that I have briefed many of them on plenty of occasions and you better believe that they will twist intelligence when they can.

Alot of intelligence is derived from HUMINT...which are pretty much the 'snitches'. It is the best source of intel because they get the intel from informants..the source. However, it can backfire if the CIA pays a local to spy on a target...they can bring back false leads...etc.

It isn't as easy as you think. It takes alot of patience and disappointment, and you can't please everyone. You have to know how to think. You have to know how to ask questions and answer your own questions. It is a thinking person's field, and I guarantee you that the best and the brightest are behind those doors.

Everyone can't do it, so please don't insult the ones brave and smart enough to try their best at it.
