I have a new spell checker on my puter, it don't work so well. Where did you see your report? Mine was on the evening news. Plus, I have a son in the military.

It doesn't have anything to do with recruiting, but I got to meet a General a couple of weeks ago at a ceremony. He was a nice guy, very down to earth.

I don't have evening news. I watch fox and msnbc. Not sure which news cast it was. I think I mis spoke. I did not mean that recruiting was down but sign ups.

Anyhow, I think I will do what I do best. Instead of argueing with a good friend. I think I shall bat my deep dark ebony eyes, and shift my shirt just a little past my knees and....giggle.

Relax, we weren't arguing, merely exchanging ideas. If you watch MSNBC then you'll typically get a very biased democratic point of view. If you watch Fox then it generally sides with the republicans. You've got to be careful with taking news at face value, most of the networks have an agenda. It's like the old saying,'figures don't lie, but liars don't figure.'

Thanks for the concern for my son. He's got a pretty good situation. He's not usually in harm's way, even though he's done a couple of short tours in the middle east. Bottom line, he loves it and he's going to do at least 20 years in the military.

In the first gulf, I had a dear cousin over there. Alot of fears and prayers later, we got him home. In this one, I have my daughter-inlaws brother there. Another good man. He has been sent twice. Sure tears at the heart strings.
I worry, which does no good, that we are so over extended that if something happens here at home...isn't that what the reserves were intended for?

That's true. Unfortunately, The Reserves and National Guard are also stretched thin. That is why America voted Democrat majority in Congress...to possibly move forward in getting our troops out. If we were to launch another full scale attack on another "threat", then I fear we would have to do it only by air and let NATO forces clean up. I hope Bush is smart enough to prevent another "preemptive" war before he leaves.

Why can't things be as simple as the Kosovo campaign in which NATO forces bombed the crap out of Serbia...etc, and then there was nothing left but "peace keeping"...lol. We are still over there as well.

Oh well, we can't please everyone. We all can agree that Iraq was a big mistake. Saddam would have eventually been assassinated by his own people...we did not have to assist. I have mentioned this before as well, I believe, the only thing Saddam did very well as a dictator was keep the Shiites and Sunnis from an all out civil war by force. Take it he was brutal and inhumane at times, but it worked. Now, analysts are agreeing that the best thing to do right now is segregate them.......just like Saddam did before he was toppled. He kept the peace with an Iron fist...his biggest flaw was that he was a classic megalomaniac who swindled the "Oil for Food" money away from his own people and into his own pockets.

Don't know if Saddam would have been assasinated or not. I shed no tears for the loss of him. Even in the event of his death, his sons which were as bad or worse would of still been around. Now they are not. These are but a few positive things that has come out of it. Still don't think it was worth the losses we have sustained. There are many tirants in the world that we could well do without. Can't be our job to do it all.
I have some very strong belief's and opinons on this subject. The reason I did not get into this subject before, is the same reason I am going to bat my eyes, shift my skirt, and skidadal on out of this one...giggle.
Mean time, be a little nicer to my friends there. They are good people with a difference of opinion. They do not live here and don't share the same convictions as we do. Heck those of us that live here have different convictions as well.

That's the thing we try to protect and your "friends" don't respect it. A country without a defense is not a country at all. If you read a little bit further back...your "friends" made their way here with their lack of manners. Please, please, please...Lita, choose your "friends" wisely...lol. Maybe I will be much nicer in the future, as long as they don't start anything they can't finish.
