Let's just say I've been around the block a few times, and know what I'm looking at. MTN's are a myth. Oh, yeah, sure, 'they' will tell you that it's a 'hidden secret'... And, what they say SOUNDS good. But, they're 'selling' the STORY, *NOT* the real thing...
If you're real curious, might I suggest some research. I'd start with reading a story at fraudaid.com, myself.

Yes, you're right, you can't believe everything you read.
As for your 'knowing', you likely have no idea how many times I've heard that.

I can assure you that MTN's exist already for a long time, they are nothing special, nothing mystical, nothing extraordinary. Big companies use this kind of financial vehicle to shape up their balances/debt ratio or to finance their own investments, as they receive fresh capital. Usually you get more % than you would on a bank savings account, so we look at 4%-6% yearly depending on the contract, risk factor is usually ignorable. An investor can buy MTN's at any broker/bank, and should not even think of buying outside a registered/licenced bank/broker. There do exist MTN's paying more than 6% but of course the risk rises, as those companies usually are smaller, have not the best financial statements, etc...
