get this error message

alright so i uploaded my script and i have a mysql database setup.. but when i open my website i get this:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) in /home/www/testhyip.100webspace.net/inc/config.inc.php on line 2073
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

So I go to that file and find line 2073 and it says this:
if (!($dbconn = mysql_connect ($settings['hostname'], $settings['db_login'], $settings['db_pass'])))

What do I do to make it work.

Your host might have a problem with MySQL (eg. daemon not running). Give them a shout.

this error means you are trying to send the query to the database without even establishing a connection at first place .

Exactly right.

There is no problem in your script. The script can't connect to the MySQL server. Perhaps you have the wrong server in your settings, but probably not because then it wouldn't give the error it's giving you now.

Unless you're on a dedicated server, you should contact your host and make sure they get their MySQL up and running. If you're on your own dedicated server, you should be able to start up MySQL yourself.

how do i establish a connection to the script

There is no such thing as a "connection to the script". Your script is trying to estabilish a connection to the MySQL server, which is down - assuming you have the settings correct.

I'm guessing you are not in control of starting and shutting down the MySQL server yourself, so you should just email your webhost and state the problem.

There is nothing you can do if the MySQL server is down and you can't fire it up.

Speak for yourself. I'm using freezoka.com for testing my scripts.
