Had an email yesterday from someone mocking the results for the LayingChallenge saying the return is pathetic for 6 months of betting! It's surprising how many people I come across who think like he does. They find it acceptable to put their money in a Bank or Building Society where it will take 8 to 10 YEARS to double their money, but when it comes to gambling their expectations go off the scale and they EXPECT to double their money several times a YEAR.
I have said right from the outset if it manages to turn £500 to £25,000 in 2 YEARS it will be a terrific achievement. It is currently way ahead of schedule to do just that. It started with a very small bank of just £500 which today stands at £2305.55...that is a profit of 360% on capital in 6 months. IF I'd started with a £5000 bank it would have made £18055 profit to date, 6 months into the Challenge. We are using the power of compounding, increasing risk gradually as the bank increases, so initially returns early on are small but increase faster and faster as the bank goes up...like a pension fund, hardly anything happens to it in the first few years...all the action is at the other end.
We are targeting an average 4% growth a week and beating it so far. 4% per week compounded increases a bank by 48% every 10 weeks. This is how a £500 bank grows at 48% per 10 weeks>>>

Today the bank is on £2280 after 28 weeks...so it is 10 to 11 weeks AHEAD of the target. "Mr Expectation", look at the target just 10 weeks into the Challenge, £740...so after 10 WEEKS of betting starting with a £500 bank the target was to get the bank to £740...a profit of just £240 in 10 weeks of betting...only £24 a week...peanuts! Now look at the Week50 target...£3550. So to be on schedule to turn £500 into £25,000 in 2 years at the end of the first year the bank needs to be less than £4000 and have made a profit for the whole year of betting of less than £3500.
Now look at what happens in the 2nd year if the average growth rate of 4% a week is maintained...the profit for the 2nd year continuing with the bank would be over £21,000.
So 1st year betting profit expectation >£3500
2nd year expectation <£21,000
To make huge sums of money gambling you only need to get a very tiny edge in your favour. I've mentioned before about my mate who does some stats work and programming for Britains' most successful gambler...and no it's not Harry Findlay as many people seem to think. He makes around 2% profit on his turnover but makes £millions...his best year around £50million!...almost all on soccer.
You need patience and discipline by the bucket load to do this..if like "Mr Expectation" you don't have both then you need to take up another hobby.
