This is a site that you can upload suspicious files to with the results of something I received in my e-mail today. It had first been submitted only a couple of hours before I did and shows how few of the AVs out there knew about it. Non of the popular ones have it Symantec(Norton), AVG, Avast, Mcafee and the mighty Kaspersky and Nod. I'd go with Sophos if I was addicted to an O/S that needs AV but as I'm not I use nothing........

Linux or Mac OS X are the best AV you can have.
I agree VirusTotal is a good place to check suspicious files.
Another great product to protect your PC is "IKARUS virus utilities". Not-so-well known product, but does its job perfectly.
