Just wanna ask.. there are old HYIP businesses that exist. I know one that lasted for 3 yrs. Can they be trusted or not? I hear companies who lasts are usually the strongest.

Of course they can NOT be trusted!
No matter if a HYIP lasted 1 week or 5 years until they turned to scam, all of them are the same kind of illegal Ponzi scams, because in the end in all of the HYIP-s the number of people who lost money will be many times more than of the number of people who made money in them.

All HYIPS are pyramids, just don't forget about it. But lots of them work long enough to let members earn something.
If you are USA resident the only thing you can do if you were scammed in a HYIP is to bang your head against the walls.
Because if you report your loss to the authorities, you do more bad to you than good: partaking in an illegal operation even as a passive so called "investor" makes you almost a criminal in there eyes.
If you do not believe me just consult the law.
Where, there is (maybe) another thing you can do:
Track down the bosses of the defunct HYIP, and put some thugs on him to try to extort some money, which will cover your loss plus the huge % from the extorted money you will need to give to the thugs. This is a dangerous way to go...
I have done it once, 3 years ago, but just because I know the right people, who are making there living doing "lost moneys recuperation business", lol.
And I would do it any time again if someone would mess with me.
But anyways, I finished investing in HYIPs a long time ago. It's just a loss of time...

But as we may know that most HYIPs programs are not based in the US.

None of HYIPs are based in the US IMO, or if they say they are based here they have totally fictive addresses there, or just some mailboxes, rented answering service, etc.
A HYIP admin who wold live really in the USA, and would give real mail and contact info in US, would sign his jail term from the very first day of his HYIP's existence .
He would be a total idiot, and HYIP admins are rarely idiots....
