Doing a bit of cruising on the ssp and came across this little gem:
Quote:
Well, because all the data from the old CH has been migrated to the New Sytsem and there will be a couple of changes in that site that you will need to do, so that is why you will have to follow the instructions when the site is launched.

Ok.. thinking this through. My old account had my details - and the database in the new system has (presumably) the same fields.. so my info that I gave them should be correct.
So what more could be needed. More verification? hmmm why? Perhaps under the auspices of the Patriot Act (isn't the CU offshore?) Maybe it's know your customer.
So what
may happen is - your accounts are ready but you/we will need to provide a copy of ...whatever.
On the surface perhaps harmless. Under the surface it's a seething hotbed of potential id theft. Additionally if you had (in quite good faith) created accounts for your kids and so on - and now suddenly you have to provide utility bills for them - it's not gonna be possible.
So this creates a paperwar confusion as everyone rushes to fax in their blood groups and so on. And in the meantime those who value their privacy are left wondering - what to do. Do I kiss that money goodbye or do I HOPE that it's gonna be ok.
Might be time for some arguments - but bottom line - you're gonna lose. There is no point saying well I don't want to give them my SS # or whatever - cos they will then say ok well then you can't have your money.
Another nice little way to screw ya.
What about people who don't have bills in their name? (note I'm using the utility bill as an example here - as it's a common ID tool).
All sorts of possibilities for delay - and of course those who are not familiar with HyIP and the nastiness that goes along with it will be there saying "Of course it's ok only those with something to hide need be worried" Remember the Intgold fiasco?
Assuming we are hit with an ID requirement - what then ? I don't know WHAT I would dvise others to do - as at that time it becomes a $$ vs privacy thing. My gut reaction is to tell them to go to hell - but that may be easier said than done to someone who is hoping /relying on the proposed pittance.
There is once more or still more to be played out here.
