I've been hearing a lot about using Social Networking tools like FaceBook and Twitter to get traffic. Has anybody done this? If so how does it work?

Just share you sites, your stories, pictures or videos on these networking.

If your shares remented to an interesting topic, they will visit your site.

Twitter is a lot better for this than facebook. Lots of programs TOS agreements wont let you advertise on facebook. People do use twitter all the time for traffic. If you can get your website on the top of twitters home page than that will help. All social networking tools are great for back links.

Social bookmarking websites can be good for generating page views and increasing traffic but this does not mean to be an easy task. You need to work on promoting your profile over the net effectively, using links and other means to spread the word about your page address. Sharing points and useful links over the net so that the interested readers of your points be able to find and spot your site online and then gradually, they would start bookmarking your pages.

Twitter is awesome and easy and myspace is another good one. I created a profile specifically based on what I was promoting and requested a bunch of friends and would do posts on interesting things about the site I was promoting.. Ive generated some good sales with it. There is also a ppc program with facebook that you can do that cost you next to nothing for the clicks, unlike adwords ..

I do not like facebook - it is huge but i did not get any good results to use it, there are many others great SocialNetworks.

Personally I have found facebook great to get traffic if you keep active, I use twitter but have not yet seen anything come from it via traffic..

i believe that social networking site really can help to promote your products or websites, but you need to stay active and add a lot of friends in order to see the effect.
