US stocks on Delight
Rallying stocks were a delight for investors yesterday after better than expected earnings from companies. Bruce Bittles, chief investment strategist at Robert W. Baird & Co in Nashville, Tennessee, said: "The housing data, followed by the ISM data yesterday and the GDP last week, is making investors believe that the strength in the fourth quarter was not a fluke, and that the strength could be sustainable in the first quarter and beyond."
Dow Jones climbed 111.32 points, or 1.1 percent, to 10,296.85. The S&P 500 index gained 1.3 percent to 1,103.32.
Nasdaq gained 18 points to 2,190.
