They charge 2% to get ur cash from egold, and u don't know what rates they are giving you, afaik. Also, no mention of what they charge for you to buy egold...
2% for egold funding is cheap! You would be hard pressed to find a fast and reliable exchanger to cash out your egold for you at that rate, unless you were cashing out thousands of dollars at a time, which most of us probably won't be doing.
I think UniClear is the cheapest, they charge 2% from e-gold to UniClear, only $0.50 per transaction, no monthly fee and the card cost only $8, while XLCard charge 3% from e-gold to XLCard, $4.95 monthly maintenance fee, $4 per withrawal for International users and it only cost $19.95 including the shipping fee. I have ordered them both.
Argh, you guys pretty much convinced me to get a uniclear card in the near future...
Although I might consider ebullion card instead... decision decision...
XLCard have it's benefit, being a visa card... but seems the cost is pretty high...

Is Uniclear generally "slow". I've sent them $10 in egold and I'm waiting for it to be converted to CAD so I can order my card. How long does it take before they typically get around to doing stuff?

Buddhacide it took me only 30 seconds!
Here is how to do it!
1. Go to My Account at UniClear, then you can see your e-gold account and Balance, on the right side of your e-gold account, there's an options.
2. Click the Buy/Sell. Now you can see Buy/Sell E-Currency, choose the Sell e-currency (2% fee) at "Do you wish to buy or sell?" question and enter the amount at the "Amount to buy or sell?" question, then click Select.
3. Now you can see your e-gold already transferred into your Main USD or CAD Account in My Account
4. Now, click Order Debit Card and you can now purchase the debit card.
Well, mine didnt. I sold the egold to their account and then sent them an email, but nothing has shown up in my account. Maybe they are down for the weekend. I did this

eCurrency Exchange
You may also open sub-accounts within your UniClear account for eCurrencies such as E-Gold so you can transact in those currencies as well. You may also out-exchange e-currencies using the exchangers below.
Do a transfer of the amount of E-Gold you want exchanged to UniClear account number U5951820803.
Email accounting@uniclear.com with the details of the transaction and request to convert to USD or CAD.
There is a 2% e-gold exchange fee which will be deducted from the exchanged value. Also please bear in mind that e-gold is stored in ounces of gold so the actual value can fluctuate up or down depending on gold prices as used by e-gold. We are in process of automating this system so please bear with us so we can do the exchanges for you manually for now.
Okay Im a newbie so forgive me for asking this question, but how do you link the uniclear card to your e-gold account? I just starting investing and would love quick access to earnings.
I just had to rectify something.
Uniclear DOES have monthly fees.
I agree that there probably the lowest though.
