Metropipe is a privacy tool, it has little or no effect on the security of your system. Your real IP address is still visible to the internet and all the stuff including exploits and malware still comes in with metropipe. All it does is ensure that your surfing habits and IP address aren't visible to websites you visit. Privacy is closing the curtains, security is locking the doors and turning the alarm on. You can have privacy without security and vice-versa.
Just a quick question pluggy, I thought metropipe is supposed to hide your real IP address? how can it be still visible to the internet?
hEY PLUGGY..lol I dont use it ALL the time. I have installed it on explorer and use it when necessary. Other times like when I post on talkgold I just use firefox without the metropipe.
It lets you change between the proxy and direct connect whenever you want. It also displays your current ip, Your true ip will show in red and the proxy ip is green.

It rather depends on whether you need to remain anonymous, if you run scams, something like metropipe is probably essential, If you don't and you aren't too worried by people knowing what ISP you use and what country you live in. It doesn't matter at all. The authorities would be able to get your Address from your ISP with an order should the matter arise.
I have a pretty secure system, but my IP address will lead you to the front door....
