Possibly a good decision, it's one I made a few years ago, and I haven't regretted it.
Might I suggest taking any 'losses' up with the person who 'referred' you?
In at least some cases, they CAN be held responsible.

Chinese pyramid sellers targeted

WE ALL know pyramid selling in the UK has seen many thousands of people lose hundreds of thousands of pounds.

But spare a thought for "investors" in China who have been duped by such a scheme.

Chinese police have uncovered the country's largest alleged online pyramid selling scheme, involving 170,000 people and 1.36 billion yuan (£89 million).

Authorities uncovered the scheme, named "Swiss Mutual Fund", in May, which was found to be illegal after investigation.

It apparently required each investor to pay 8,000 yuan and promised to pay back 400,000 yuan in 30 months.

Two men have been charged for the scheme.

Pyramid selling is illegal in China, banned in 1998 after a series of scandals, including one in 1995 in which two women were executed for masterminding a scheme.

The uncovered scheme is just part of China's campaign against pyramid selling from 16 July to 15 August this year.

It has identified 600 schemes involving 1.7bn yuan nationwide, with more than 3,300 organisers and core members arrested in 14 provinces and cities.
