My mention of the Cisco theft was to put things into "perspective" as to why the government might be gunning for them.

If e-gold were to close down, on what basis would that be?
Having some criminals as its customers?

It's certainly been known to happen. And if, in addition to the FBI, the IRS also has a beef with them then they might have real problems. There are two things for sure in life...death and taxes. If Bin Laden had owed back taxes he'd have been caught a long time ago.

Not in the actual raid, but the raid might have been a consequence of some actions of groups he was involved with (among other things) that pushed some attention to e-gold.

Omar AKA Patryn (from Talkgold and probably from other forums) AKA Voleur (from other things he was in) was involved in major online illegal activities in 2004 run from websites like www.shadowcrew.com (the first one which started in 2002) www.stealthdivision.biz www.dumpsmarket.cn www.carderplanet.net www.darkprofits.com I think that those sites were all related although they had different ways of doing things, different membership base and claimed to be (or at least run) from different parts of the world. Their members were located worlwide so the investigations were international and several arrests were made in many countries. Many of the members were known to be dangerous.

Out of curiosity here are some e-mails that someone was broadcasting about some of those sites:

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/cr.../msg00000.html
http://lists.debian.org/debian-hurd/.../msg00074.html
http://www.hoax-slayer.com/dark-profits-hoax.html

If you got curious and want to take a look at how some of the refered websites looked like:

www.shadowcrew.com
shadowcrew when they were busted
www.stealthdivision.biz
www.dumpsmarket.cn

As for e-gold, I don't think it will disappear. No worries.

The FBI could give half a crap about people's account's being drained inside e-Gold. They have bigger fish to fry...

Does anyone know which major e-currencies are NOT based in the US? Eventually the IRS will get their grubby hands in e-gold and spoil it for all of us. If they're forced to do all the checks and **** that credit card companies do their fees will go through the roof and destroy the whole company. Damn I hate the US.

Does anyone know which major e-currencies are NOT based in the US?

At this stage of the game, the only one I am aware of - THAT I TRUST - is e-Bullion.

They are registered in Panama and their servers are in Switzerland.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOWEVER ... where are their headquarters ??? Does anybody know ???

e-Gold is also registered offshore - in Nevis - BUT their office is obviously still in the USA, which makes them vulnerable to Big Brother.

Is e-Bullion ENTIRELY out of and off American soil ???

------------------------------------------------------------------------

e-Gold, StormPay, EMO are all in America.

NetPay tells us they are in Panama

Gold Money is in Jersey ... BUT unfortunately the authorities on that beautiful island would be more than happy to "co-operate" with the United Kingdom and thus the EU. Although the UK and EU are nowhere near as bad as their American bully-boy counterparts, they are learning fast!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would also welcome informed information (NOT "I think" speculation please!) about what I have said above.

Happy New Year everyone!

Dr. Mac
