Re: Dum things that Bush said....
Energy crisis? Venezuela gas is cheaper than water
Quote:
By Brian Ellsworth
CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Taxi driver Jaime Tinoco works the streets of Caracas in a 1976 Chevy Nova that guzzles 19 gallons (72 liters) of gas a day. But he doesn't worry about fuel efficiency -- filling his tank costs just
$2.30.
While U.S. consumers struggle with soaring energy prices, Venezuela's gas is now the world's cheapest at 12 cents a gallon and Washington's regional foe, President Hugo Chavez, vows to maintain subsidies that keep fuel dirt-cheap.
"Those gringos have everything -- so why does their gas cost so much?" asked Tinoco between chuckles as he navigated a midday traffic jam. "Don't they have oil reserves?"
Chavez, a self-proclaimed socialist and critic of President Bush, has even begun subsidizing fuel for poor U.S. neighborhoods as U.S. consumers brace for average summer gas prices of $2.71 a gallon -- 34 cents higher than last summer.
In Venezuela, the world's No. 5 oil exporter, drivers fill their tanks for less than the price of a cheap breakfast, and love to point out that gasoline costs less than mineral water.
The nation's gasoline is now the world's cheapest, according to an International Monetary Fund report released in April that shows Venezuelan gas prices as about a third of those in oil-producing giant Saudi Arabia.

I wonder when Chavez will be accused of hiding weapons of mass destruction.

Re: Dum things that Bush said....
The US government already tried to buy oil from him. They will find a reason after we go after the oil in Iran I bet. It would save money to get the oil from a connected continent. Especially if you do not have to pay for it. Do they not have nukes they are building or chemical war heads? Maybe it will be something new. They can't use the same excuse to many times. Even the sheep would notice. It might wake them up?

Chavez will be accused of having WMD when his referendum goes through making him president for the next 25 years (until 2031) because after that, he will refuse to sell oil to the USA.

Re: Dum things that Bush said....
he should not have to sell to the US. The US needs to start working with alternative fuel, and stop this Texas oil mentality. I met a man when I was 17 working in Monticito CA at an retirement home for the rich. He made one of the first electric cars in the 70’s. He said he made more money being paid off back then because the technology was new at the time, and the people in the US were into big muscle cars so he would not have made too much from the idea. This retirement home is not what you may think it is. A lot of old rich people actually want to go here. You have your own little town house and a full medical staff. There is a three year wait to get in. The place is called Casa Darinda in case you want to verify that it exists. This guy was in no means senile, and did have proof in his words.
The US has had the means to get away from using oil for over thirty years.

for 5, 4 years they killed Stan Maier after a alternative energy congress, who got 12 patents about hydrogen full. Nasa tested his VW beatle with just water in the tank - they been happy about.
Hydrogen full burns hotter, and you can put your tea bag in the exhaust and needs less full of water, you can even piss in your tank with his invention in dry desserts.
Stan Maiers hydrogen full modul was ready for mass production, one modul for every car, costs about $ 1200.
It never happend, Stan is death now, killed with poised orange juice after a congress.

I agree with you but it doesn't seem like anybody is in any hurry to do much about it. I know there are the E85 vehicles and stuff but this should have been done a very long time ago. It's not just a Bush problem though. Big fat cat corporate America sure didn't want to see any alternatives for the past 3-4 decades.
I also don't doubt the electric car guy from the 70s. No need to verify your info.

Re: Dum things that Bush said....
I could not verify the guys info myself. This was over 15 years ago, and for all I know the guy is dead. I also have a friend that has a design for a motor that runs of its own power. I do not know if it works, but he said he copied the basic idea from someone that had already made the design that worked. This was just a mechanic from the Santa Barbara area.
If he could develop this. Why not the government?

Re: Dum things that Bush said....
Coming back towards the US economy, I found this commentary interesting:
